Respectfully, fuck the Emmys, Andre created great art and an important story. Nobody is going to care about an Emmy in 20 years, they are going to watch the Wire and speak his name.

One of the true great character arcs in television. Indeed amongst others but his portrayal deserved awards. But much of this show deserved so much more than it ever received but it has the respect and love of the people. Emmy's doesn't.

There was so much special about his performance and the writing behind it

So many cast members should have. Some of the most deeply drawn characters in the history of TV. I say this as someone who spent years covering them which is why watching The Wire seems like a reunion.

This scene where Kima brings Walon to visit Bubs in the hospital after his suicide attempt is perfect cinema. Absolutely horrific and you feel apart his grief & remorse. Simon's and Burn's character development in 'The Wire' is unmatched. #TheWire

None of the actors on the wire (Especially Andre) not even getting nominated is insane to me.

Two Emmy nominations, both for writing, no wins. Endorsement enough in a perverse way.

Not a ton of well known actors at the time, but the entire ensemble was incredible. Even the real life non-actors that were cast for the show were great. Just amazing. Yet, none may top Andre Royo’s portrayal of Reginald aka Bubbles.

Bubbs' character arch was an all timer. When you say "chatacter arch" I think of one person in television. Bubbs! Especially when you add Dukie, just getting started on a similar path.

I'm a sucker for a redemption arc and his was absolutely wonderful. I'm a recovering addict myself and they absolutely nailed it with this and his portrayal was flawless.
