Andy Burnham on Palestine: There are potential measures that I'm looking at in terms of the settlements in the West Bank, and those will be looked at and announced in due course. There's a really unjustifiable humanitarian disaster unfolding. We've got to be thinking about it every single day,...

The nature of fear is that people don't look at it. Look at it directly, and it will be gone.” Fox News, April 1, 2025

ELON: WE WILL NOT ACCEPT AN ANOINTED CLASS OF JOURNALISTS WHO TELL US WHAT TO THINK “What we're not going to do is say that there's some anointed class of journalists who are the special ones who get to tell everyone what they should think. It should be up to the people what they think. And even if an article is completely accurate, comprehensive, and everything, in writing that article, the media is choosing the narrative. They're deciding what to write an article about. So, I'm hopeful that this can be more a case of the public choosing the narrative as opposed to the media choosing the narrative. At least a combination of the media and the public choosing the narrative, and the public getting to weigh in on stories if they think that they should add something to it, or we've got something wrong. And over time, I think if Twitter is the best source of truth, it will succeed. And if we are not the vessels of truth, we will fail.” Source: Interview with the BBC, April 2023, Elon Musk

UK's Andy Burnham: Israel continues to violate the ceasefire agreement, killing innocent Palestinians. We're seeing a surge in settler violence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem and the continued expansion of illegal settlements displacing Palestinian communities. And Netanyahu's government is clearly attempting to make a two-state solution impossible. That's why we need to do more, which includes looking at further sanctions both on those involved in the violence in Gaza, but also looking at measures to ban trade in goods with illegal settlements. I, like many people, feel passionately about Gaza and I will do everything I can to work with international partners to stop the suffering, to ensure the Israeli government adheres to international law, and to keep the prospect of a two-state solution alive, because this is the only way to lasting peace for both Israelis and Palestinians.

One of the most important conclusions in the Intergenerational Report is that Australians will be living longer, healthier lives over the next 40 years - and that is worth every single dollar of extra pressure it puts on budgets. Looking forward to telling you more about the IGR at ourANU tomorrow.

French President Emmanuel Macron challenged countries that have recognized Palestine “on paper” to do more to address the humanitarian situation in Gaza, questioning the credibility of governments that remain inactive. “Are we really going to stand by and watch this spectacle, which we should all be ashamed of?” Macron said during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). He also condemned what he said are ongoing violations in the occupied West Bank, though without specifically mentioning Israeli settlers, and called for respect for the “legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.” The French leader recognized Palestine as a nation when he spoke at last year's UNGA and recently joined with other European nations in imposing sanctions on Israel aimed at deterring illegal settlements in the West Bank.

DPM & FM Ayman Safadi in the 1st plenary at #IISSMD23, today: - Israel is taking 2.3 million Palestinians hostage in the process, by denying them food and water, and by this war. - Yes to the release of hostages but NO to linking humanitarian pauses to the release of hostages. - 1.65 million Palestinians in #Gaza have been displaced, in percentage terms that's about displacing 275 million Americans! - For years we've been warning against the absence of political horizon. - Who's talking about any regional project at this point? Who's talking about integration? It's all about war. -Israel is telling Palestinians “we are not going to kill you on the north, we will kill you in the South. There is nothing that can justify this brutality. - We will not entertain any option looking at Gaza alone – there will be no Arab troops going to Gaza, None. - The Armenian quarter in Jerusalem cannot be accused of being a Hamas hideout. It is being threatened now by settlers trying to destroying it with the police watching and facilitating and settlers are attacking Armenians with attack dogs day in day out, is this a war against Hamas? - Other country in the world has done a fragment of what Israel did, it will have sanctions imposed on it from every corner of the world now. #حوار_المنامة

This is pure joy and it happens every single day of the year. Food for 1300 dogs. What i love the most is that the Thai team do it and we share the videos in Thai to millions of people. I'm hopeful that changes hearts and minds at scale!

Ed Sheeran Speaks Out on Israel and Palestine After FIRING Macklemore from Tour I cleaned up the audio to make it easier to understand. Speaking onstage, Ed Sheeran said he has avoided political commentary throughout his career, but can no longer stay silent because "this is a humanitarian issue." "What is happening in Gaza is CATASTROPHIC and UNJUSTIFIABLE and DISPROPORTIONATE." He also condemned the October 7 attack as "horrific" and said the "systemic injustice" unfolding in the West Bank cannot be overlooked.

JJ Redick's response when asked if the answers to the Lakers' struggles can be answered with the current personnel/rotation: "We're looking at everything. We've got to be serious about where we are right now. The continual failure of things has a shelf life. And then you've got to make changes. So we're looking at it. But again, I have a belief in the nine guys we've been playing. I have a belief in the rotation."

Buttgieg: There's no clear definition of what victory even consists of. The president has said that we've already won and that we could be doing it for much, much longer. The truth is there is no way to know when this conflict will end, in particular, because there's no way to know when the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened. We heard Hegseth say, that the Strait of Hormuz is open, other than the fact that there are Iranians shooting at ships that try to go through it. As long as that remains true, there's going to be enormous uncertainty and pain at the pump for every American.
