No, the skies over Canada are not closed to the United States. There is no credible report that Canada has shut its airspace to U.S. commercial flights, international flights, or military aircraft. Here is the reality. For commercial and international flights, U.S. aircraft fly through Canadian airspace every day and vice versa. The U.S. and Canada share one of the most integrated aviation systems in the world. Airlines routinely cross each other’s airspace as part of normal international routing, and there has been no announcement from Transport Canada or the FAA closing that access. For military aircraft, the situation is even more integrated because of the joint defense system called North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). NORAD is a binational command created by the United States and Canada to defend North American airspace together. Under this agreement, the two countries coordinate radar, air defense, and interception missions across both countries.  Because of that partnership, U.S. and Canadian military aircraft can operate in each other’s airspace during joint operations or when responding to threats.  There are only a few situations where restrictions apply: • Foreign military aircraft normally need diplomatic clearance before entering Canadian airspace. • Flights entering the North American Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) must file a flight plan and maintain radio contact for identification.  • Specific restricted areas or temporary military zones can limit flights. But those are standard aviation rules, not a political closure. What you might be seeing online is confusion from recent news about Middle East airspace closures due to the Iran conflict, which has disrupted global flight routes. Several countries in that region temporarily closed their airspace, causing cancellations and reroutes worldwide.  That has nothing to do with Canada blocking U.S. aircraft. So the bottom line is this. Canada has not closed its skies to the United States. Civilian flights, international routes, and military cooperation between the two countries are still operating normally.
