Ridgeway was abducted by Sigg as she was heading towards his parked Jeep. He restrained her by binding her wrists and ankles with zip ties. Sigg then took her to his residence where he compelled her to change into shorts and a t-shirt. Subsequently, he strangled her using the rope she was tied with, dismembered her body, and concealed her remains. Sigg was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder in November 2013.
