Blue state residents 'fleeing in droves' after ‘insane’ progressive takeover, says top state attorney | Peter Pinedo, Fox News A top state attorney in Democrat-controlled Maryland says he has had enough and is throwing in the towel after saying the Old Line State has suffered an "insane" "ultra-progressive" takeover. In an interview with Fox News Digital, Haven Shoemaker, state attorney for Maryland’s Carroll County, said that after decades in public service, he is "sick to death" of the policies that "emanate" from the state capital in Annapolis. He said he is especially disgusted with Maryland’s "sanctuary" policies and the high taxes he said are being levied in part to pay for more services for illegal immigrants. "Maryland has become California on the Chesapeake," said Shoemaker. "It only gets worse. It's not getting better. And at some point, I just had to make a personal decision that it's time to throw in the towel and head for what I believe are greener pastures." Shoemaker is not the only one. He said that he sees Marylanders giving up on the state "all the time." "The State of Maryland has one of the worst outward migration numbers of any state in the country right now," he said. "So, I don't know who’s going to be the last to foot the bill for the profligate spending that Annapolis likes to engage in, but it's not going to be me, I can tell you that." His career in public service includes seven years as mayor of Hampstead, Maryland, four years as a Carroll County commissioner and nine years in the Maryland House of Delegates. He rose to the role of House Minority Whip for the Maryland Republican Party. Despite years deeply involved in state politics, Shoemaker said his decision to abandon Maryland has been a long time coming. "I've been contemplating this move for a while, but the linchpin for me was this most recent legislative session where they essentially made Maryland a sanctuary state for illegal immigrants," he told Fox News Digital. Earlier this year, the Maryland General Assembly passed an emergency measure to ban local and state law enforcement agencies from cooperating with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) through what is known as the 287(g) program. Has U-M Become Wuhan on the Huron? Only half of the students who attend our flagship university are state residents, and the foreign students have a habit of breaking federal law By Charlie LeDuff (Charlie LeDuff) When I went to college in Ann Arbor, a gram of magic mushrooms cost five bucks. These days—what with the Chinese Communist Party having infiltrated the research laboratory at the University of Michigan—exotic fungi could cost all of us our lives. Three Chinese researchers were recently charged with attempting to smuggle toxic plant fungus into Detroit Metro Airport. If tweaked the right way, that fungus could be weaponized to devastate crops across the country. Now Congress wants to know what the university knew about the researchers, if it knew anything at all. “The university has no incentive to vet these foreign nationals as required by law,” said Rep. Tim Walberg, chairman of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce. “It makes a lot of money off the research and China pays the tuition.” What’s more, congressional committees have found that the smugglers were working under the supervision of two Michigan professors who also have extensive ties to the Chinese Communist Party. Their work over the years has been funded with nearly $10 million in federal grants. “It’s been an issue for many, many years,” said Andy Arena, former chief of the FBI’s counterterrorism operations. “The Chinese government is not our friend. The university turned a blind eye to it in pursuit of profit. They need to wake up.” So now we have a little Wuhan on the Huron River, all in the name of profit. I studied political science at Michigan, so I feel qualified to offer this scientific equation: Federal grants + Foreign grants + Out-of-State tuition = BIG MONEY Not only has the university’s lust for lucre imperiled the people of America, it has prioritized the money of outsiders over the education of young people who are actually from Michigan. Consider the makeup of the incoming student body at other excellent public universities. The proportion of students who are actually residents of that state: University of Texas at Austin: 90% University of Florida: 88% University of California, Berkeley: 85% Michigan State University: 78% And the University of Michigan? 52% (17% of the student body are foreign nationals). What gives? Greed. Consider that tuition at Michigan is $43,000 more for out-of-state students than it is for kids who actually come from the Wolverine State. And remember, U-M has a $19 billion endowment, one of the largest of any public university in the country. They might be book smart in Ann Arbor, but the adults who administer the place are world stupid. There are the bio-weapons researchers for one, then there are the five Chinese exchange students who got caught in 2023 filming—in the dead of night—a joint military operation between the U.S. and Taiwanese militaries at Camp Grayling. Their current whereabouts are unknown. Then there is the Chinese undergrad who used his Michigan student ID to register to vote in the 2024 presidential election. The “student” was later charged with election offenses and forced to surrender his passport. Not to worry, the guy slipped out of the country using a second passport. Over the past dozen years, the University of Michigan has been a sordid swamp of sexual, sporting, and now spying scandals. In that time, there have been five university presidents, three head football coaches, and a nearly half-billion-dollar abuse settlement. The constant through it all has been Mark Bernstein, vice-chair of the Board of Regents and noted slip-and-fall lawyer. An attempt to leave a message with Bernstein’s law firm (1-800-Call-Sam) proved unsuccessful. Who knows how compromised the university has become with corporate kleptocrats and communist spies? Let’s hope Congress gets to the bottom of the mess in Ann Arbor before we’re all forced to bend over and kiss our asses zai jian.

19 years ago, a high school basketball coach put his team manager into a game for the final four minutes. The kid had never played a single minute of competitive basketball in his life. He scored 20 points. Jason McElwain was diagnosed with severe autism at age two. He didn’t speak until he was five. He couldn’t chew solid food until he was six. He wore a nappy for most of his early childhood. As a baby, he was rigid, wouldn’t make eye contact, and hid in corners away from other children. He tried out for his school basketball team every year and got cut every time. Too small. Too slight. Barely 5’6 and about 54 kilograms. But he loved the game so much that his mum called the school and asked if there was any way he could be involved. The coach created a team manager role for him. For three years, McElwain showed up to every practice and every game. He wore a shirt and tie on match days. He ran drills, handed out water, kept stats, and cheered every basket like he’d scored it himself. On 15 February 2006, the last home game of his final school year, the coach let him suit up in a proper jersey and sit on the bench. With four minutes left and a comfortable lead, the coach sent him in. His first shot missed. His second missed. Then something shifted. He hit a three-pointer. Then another. Then another. His teammates stopped shooting entirely and just kept passing him the ball. He hit six three-pointers and a two-pointer. 20 points in four minutes. The highest scorer in the game. When the final buzzer went, the entire crowd rushed the court and lifted him onto their shoulders. His mum tapped the coach on the shoulder, in tears. “This is the nicest gift you could have ever given my son.” McElwain won the ESPY Award for Best Moment in Sports that year, beating out some of the biggest names in professional sport. He’s 36 now. He works at a local supermarket, coaches basketball, has run 17 marathons including five Boston Marathons, and travels the country speaking about never giving up. When asked about that night, his coach still gets emotional. “For him to come in and seize the moment like he did was certainly more than I ever expected. I was an emotional wreck.”

The Raiders (29-0) have been building up to this season with 11 senior members of the roster making their 3rd consecutive Final Four appearance. They looked like the more complete team in the opening minutes by building a 20-14 cushion heading into the second quarter, but that's when Quinn Kwasniak began to take matters into his own hands. The Army commit put up 15 of his game-high 38 points in the frame, cashing in a pair of logo 3-pointers that fueled the Patriots (21-9) crowd and dazzled everyone else in attendance. CCA would trim the deficit to 38-34 by the halftime break but failed to keep momentum out of the locker room. A big 3rd quarter from Braylon Cordonnier, where he scored 10 of his team-best 21 points, helped the Raiders create some separation on the scoreboard heading into the final stanza. On the strength of a 9-0 run midway through the fourth quarter, Russia would put the game away with three players finishing the night with 14+ points. An emotional crowd watched as the final seconds fell off the clock, ensuring the Raiders a perfect season in dominating fashion. The win is the 1,000th in program history for Russia, who have accumulated an impressive 81-6 overall record over the last 3 seasons. Kwasniak finished his career with a state record 3,341 points. 𝐴𝑛 𝑜𝑝𝑒𝑛 𝑎𝑝𝑜𝑙𝑜𝑔𝑦 𝑡𝑜 Alabama Men’s Basketball I want to apologize to a program that I have loved and embraced starting as a 12-year-old who became drawn to the sport by the greatness of Ennis Whatley. I want to apologize to all the former players, coaches, staff and fans who also share my passion for Alabama basketball. I want to apologize for almost losing faith, and today on Easter Sunday this seems the most appropriate time to ask for your forgiveness. I never stopped supporting every coach, every player and every season, but there were many times I questioned why the second-winningest program in the conference seemed sentenced to wander in college basketball purgatory. During those barren seasons of more than a decade with only one NCAA Tournament appearance, and a quick one at that, my crisis of faith occurred. I truly felt a once-proud program had become an afterthought, and in that brief moment I almost accepted that I would never see the Crimson Tide reach the Final Four in my lifetime. I had become numb to the mediocrity and I didn’t expect more. I had forgotten what the program could be, and actually achieved, when I grew up in the 80s and graduated from The University of Alabama in the early 90s. I wanted to take time to process the significance of last night’s 89-82 victory over Clemson in the very appropriate City of Angels. The basketball gods, who I cursed after every mis-seeding by the NCAA selection committee, after every unexpected postseason injury and after every agonizing loss in the Sweet Sixteen, knew. They knew a team and staff assembled together out of necessity but embracing “mudita” would be the one. They knew a team questioned about its physicality, about its defense, would be the one. They knew when the rest of the country laughed at Alabama and many penciled them as opening-round losers would be the one. They knew a team that ignores the criticism and puts its faith in themselves and the process would be the one. They knew this team would be the one. The one to offer salvation to a long-suffering fanbase that had paid its penance across all generations (Baby Boomers, Generation X, Millennials). Thank you 2023-24 for being THE one. Thank you Mark Sears for coming back to your home state. Thank you Rylan Griffen for signing with Alabama out of high school and staying for another season. Thank you Grant Nelson, Aaron Estrada, Latrell Wrightsell and Mohamed Wague for seeing something in Alabama. Thank you Nick Pringle for your fiery emotion and your gritty play last night with a bruised heel. Ten Takeaways From 10/21/25 ONE) NBA on NBC Hello, friends. Welcome to the 2025-26 NBA season. It’s been a minute, hasn’t it? A whole lot has changed since we last spoke. We were reintroduced to the NBA on NBC. Can’t believe it’s been almost 25 years, but here we are again. They absolutely crushed it after having some early audio difficulties. I get how cliché it is, but I seriously got chills once “Roundball Rock” started playing. Thought Carmelo Anthony, Vince Carter, and Tracy McGrady had contagious energy in the pre-game coverage. The graphics are clean and straightforward. Really like the team fouls tracking in the score bug—just a very pleasant experience. Looking forward to the “Prime” experience. God, can’t believe it costs $650 to watch basketball now. We need to talk about the MJ segment, though. If you’ve been living under a rock, NBC shocked the world and somehow convinced Michael Jordan to sign on as a “special contributor”. “Insights to Excellence” is sadly everything I thought it would be… nothing. He wasn’t in the studio or anything. Looked like some pre-recorded interview with Mike Tirico from who knows when at his house, talking about why he’s come out of hiding. SGA, Dort, Chet, and IHart felt obvious. Between Alex Caruso, Aaron Wiggins, and Cason Wallace, I leaned Cason mainly because of the bigger picture. Didn’t make sense to start Alex after managing him all last year, but then he started in every preseason game he played. Had to give that some sort of credit (and we did). Well, they ended up doing what they did a lot last year: change it up midway. Wallace started, and then Caruso started the second half… for Hartenstein. Here we go again. Cason’s playmaking looks improved. Daigneault went 11 deep (!!!) in the first quarter. Rookie, Brooks Barnhizer was the fourth sub off the bench, played about two minutes, and was never seen again. Part of that reason is Ajay Mitchell, who checked in after him (for Shai). There’s been some buzz, going back to his standout Summer League (19.8 ppg, 5.3 apg, 4.8 rpg, 1.5 spg). He scored 12 of his 16 points in the second quarter. “Not surprised. He was playing like this before he got hurt last year.” - Mark Daigneault on Ajay Mitchell FOUR) Jumbo Lineup It’s not much of a surprise to see Udoka start with the Steven Adams/Alperen Sengun pairing after how dominant they looked at the end of last season (+29.9 net rating, 162 minutes)—especially given the matchup, with Holmgren and Hartenstein on the other side. The real shocker is how much they leaned into it. Alpi and Adams shared the court for over 30 minutes (+8). LIKE WTF?!!! This was Adams' first time touching 37 minutes since November 9, 2022. They did just sign him to a three-year extension. You’d think they might wanna be careful with their investment. The average height of this Rockets' starting lineup is 6'10 (Thompson, Durant, Smith, Sengun, Adams), LMAO FIVE) Alpi Dominance Continues Maybe what Sengun was doing at EuroBasket 2025 (21.6 ppg, 10.1 rpg, 6.6 apg, 1.0 spg, and 1.1 bpg) translates over? Not gonna lie, I certainly had my doubts, but no… he’s looking just as dominant (I know, one game). Alperen Sengun vs Thunder: 39 PTS 11 REB 7 AST 2 STL 5-8 3P (career-high) 10-11 FT 27.7% USG Yeah, I see it too. Second time in his career, he’s attempted eight threes. Dude averaged 1.2 attempts per game last year. The hitch in his shot appears to be gone, so hey, this could be real (doubt it). All I know is that if it is, it’ll do wonders for his ceiling on sites that reward threes (DK). Also, going 10 of 11 from the line is something worth paying attention to. He was a 69.2% free-throw shooter last season. On the flip side, Amen Thompson (18 pts, 4 reb, 5 ast) had seven attempts from behind the arc and missed them all. Sucks, but his shot still looks flat. There’s no lift. While we’re here on Thompson, he had to leave the game late because of cramps. SIX) The Reed Conundrum I’ll give Reed Sheppard (9 pts, 4 ast, 37.9% TS, 28 min) this; he’s a confident motherfucker, and I love that about him (in a cute way). It’s hilarious how many times he looked off KD in this game. He’s gonna have stretches where he’s feeling it and looks automatic, but is it really gonna be worth it if his defense looks this dreadful? He can’t stay in front of anyone. The Thunder hunted and won that matchup with ease all night. Amen getting cramped up in OT1 really salvaged his minutes, cause I didn’t think he was gonna see the court again. He should have been T’d up, giving the Thunder a free throw to potentially end the game. Zarba and his buddies even got together to talk it over once the buzzer sounded, but did nothing. Peter Obi today on Arise TV continued with his attempt to edit history and whitewash his performance in office. Let me start with education because that one gets me angry the most. Obi claims to have transformed education in Anambra State and moved Anambra from 26th position in Nigeria to 1st (in other words, we were olodos before he came into office in 2006). Let me use my secondary school, Igwebuike Grammar School, Awka to once again puncture Obi's exaggerations. NB: In Awka the state capital my school, IGS is the most popular and prestigious secondary school. Let me list the public schools in Awka before Obi came in: 1. Igwebuike Grammar School 2. Capital City Secondary School 3. St. John of God Secondary school 4. Amaenyi Girls 5. Agulu Awka (CSS, Umuike) 6. Ezioka (CSS, Umudioka) 7. Kenneth Dike Memorial Secondary School (Amikwo) 8. Government Technical College (later became FSTC) 9. Community Secondary School, Okpuno After Obi left, GTC had become FSTC, St. John of God returned to the Catholic Church leaving behind only 7 government fully-owned secondary schools in Awka. No addition. Back to my school IGS. As at 2005, before Obi came my school was doing well academically (in every school you'll always find the naturally brilliant and the irredeamably olodos). We consistently had one or two students getting 8As, 7As etc in their WAEC. Crucially, exam malpractice was not condoned in my school making some persons to enrol in private schools once they get to SS3. So, it is insulting to me and my school for Obi to be telling the world that when he came in 2006, Anambra was ranked 26th in education (or WAEC) in Nigeria. Now, in terms of transformation of the existing government schools, I can boldly tell anyone who cares to listen that Obi did not transform my school IGS. Imagine if a whole IGS wasn't transformed the way Obi paints it, which govt schools did he then transform? Well, the answer is he simply gave MISSION SCHOOLS grants and they added their own money too! Peter Obi did not add any new classroom block in my school. By the time we were leaving in 2005, UBE had started renovation of two classroom blocks (JS2 and JS3). Our JSS 1 block (an old storey building) was literally shaking. Our admin block and staff room was laughable. We already had basketball and volleyball courts but no proper football field. Crucially, we had a good library, a good ICT center donated to us by MTN with Internet connectivity and a French center. By the time Obi left, our school hall had collapsed and abandoned. Staff room still the way it was. UBE rehabilitated two blocks of classrooms. Towards the end of his administration Obi brought one generator, did borehole and gave a school bus to IGS (the Innoson school bus was mainly used by the principal by the way and not to take students to and fro school). IGS in 2013/2014 was in fact more dilapidated than it was in 2005 when my set graduated. During a tour of the school by my fellow old boys and I during Obi's tenure I wept for my IGS. So, there is no circumstances under which one can boldly claim that Obi transformed IGS, Awka. When you watch this video, the current reasonable state of IGS was thanks to the unwavering efforts of our old boys. We rebuilt the staff room, administrative block, added Corpers Lodge, a new library, a magnificent gate, rehabilitated many classrooms including ones previously done by UBE, changed our blackboards to white boards etc. Different sets of IGS old boys took up these projects. But unfortunately you'll see Obidients showing the new IGS school gate that Obi didn't know how it came about as his achievements in education! Mission schools is not a yardstick to gauge Obi's performance in education. These mission schools have multiple source of funding including from donation of its members and levies but the govt schools don't. Obi neglected them and was doing tokenism for them.

Imagine if a whole IGS wasn't transformed the way Obi paints it, which govt schools did he then transform? Well, the answer is he simply gave MISSION SCHOOLS grants and they added their own money too! Peter Obi did not add any new classroom block in my school. By the time we were leaving in 2005, UBE had started renovation of two classroom blocks (JS2 and JS3). Our JSS 1 block (an old storey building) was literally shaking. Our admin block and staff room was laughable. We already had basketball and volleyball courts but no proper football field. Crucially, we had a good library, a good ICT center donated to us by MTN with Internet connectivity and a French center. By the time Obi left, our school hall had collapsed and abandoned. Staff room still the way it was. UBE rehabilitated two blocks of classrooms. Towards the end of his administration Obi brought one generator, did borehole and gave a school bus to IGS (the Innoson school bus was mainly used by the principal by the way and not to take students to and fro school). IGS in 2013/2014 was in fact more dilapidated than it was in 2005 when my set graduated. During a tour of the school by my fellow old boys and I during Obi's tenure I wept for my IGS. So, there is no circumstances under which one can boldly claim that Obi transformed IGS, Awka. When you watch this video, the current reasonable state of IGS was thanks to the unwavering efforts of our old boys. We rebuilt the staff room, administrative block, added Corpers Lodge, a new library, a magnificent gate, rehabilitated many classrooms including ones previously done by UBE, changed our blackboards to white boards etc. Different sets of IGS old boys took up these projects. But unfortunately you'll see Obidients showing the new IGS school gate that Obi didn't know how it came about as his achievements in education! Mission schools is not a yardstick to gauge Obi's performance in education. These mission schools have multiple source of funding including from donation of its members and levies but the govt schools don't. Obi neglected them and was doing tokenism for them.

The top prosecutor in Los Angeles County announced that singer D4vd has been charged with three felonies for the death of a 14-year-old girl whose body was found in the trunk of his impounded Tesla last year. D4vd, legal name David Anthony Burke, faces a possible death sentence for the first-degree murder charge for the the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez under three special circumstances: lying in wait, committing the crime for financial gain and murdering the witness in an investigation. The 21-year-old Houston native was arrested last Thursday at a home in Hollywood. His lawyers released a statement saying he's innocent. He's to be arraigned today at 1:30 p.m. in Los Angeles County Superior Court. The charges allege he murdered Celeste on April 23, 2025, after she went to his home in the Hollywood Hills. Her family reported her missing a year before, on April 5, 2024. Her remains were found in Burke's car on Sept. 8, 2025. "Before I get into the description of these charges and their seriousness, I want to look at this as a parent. I am a parent of three children, and a parent's nightmare is a situation where your daughter goes out one night and never comes back," Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said at a press conference this mornning (Monday, April 20). "Celeste, a 14 year old at that time, went to Mr. Burke's house in the Hollywood Hills. She was never heard from again. "Hochman said Burke killed Celse "to maintain his very lucrative musical career that Celeste was threatening on that particular night." That's the basis for the financial gain circumstance as well as the circumstance of murdering a witness to an investigation. "In this particular case as the evidence will come out in court, the witness to the investigation was Celeste, and the investigation was into the lewd and lascivious sexual acts committed by Mr. Burke that is the subject of count two of this complaint with Celeste while she was under 14 years old," Hochman said.
