How is he getting away with this utterly absurd claim that many more (than the 25k who died in care homes) might have died if the elderly had been left in hospital instead of being discharged back to care homes? This is deeply shabby nonsense.

My mother was discharged from a hospital, after been there due to Covid, sent back to her care home after been tested; thing is they did not wait for her positive test result, that came three hours later. Box ticking at it's worst.

Hancock is half right. Those elderly who had asymptomatic Covid HAD Covid so wherever they went they would still have had Covid. What he misses out is that they imported it to the care homes where those without Covid GOT Covid.

It's remarkable that the Darzi Report into the NHS was done in 9 weeks and yet the review into social care is going to take 3 years. The govt can't achieve a shift from hospital to community without tackling social care and ensuring patients are discharged to the right places.

Today at the Inquiry, Mary Cridge of the Care Quality Commission was pressed to explain why the CQC appeared to back guidance that put Covid-positive patients in care homes during the pandemic. Mary explained that the CQC logo wasn’t on the front of the guidance; it was in the annex.

No offense to anyone, but considering that some of our fellow countrymen are returning from countries with high crime rates, it is reasonable to ask what security measures were put in place at our borders. Were thorough inspections conducted to ensure that no illegal weapons or other dangerous items entered the country? We hope the relevant authorities addressed these concerns as the buses were entering Zimbabwe, in the interest of public safety and national security. #SouthAfrica #Zimborders

On care homes in 1st wave - bigger issue was no hosp discharge testing till mid April & no capacity to test community admissions & staff. we SHOULD have ramped up testing early & worried about spread from staff & visitors. Germany did both & had far fewer care home deaths 1/2

Clearly there are common sense measures that need to put in place so that ICE can conduct itself in a manner at least consistent with every other law enforcement agency in the US. That's not too much to ask. Instead, they're running around out of control.
