LayerEdge LayerEdge Closed 🛠️ Testnet - 🗓️3 days remaining. Easy to keep in the background and earn points 👇 🌐 1⃣Connect EVM wallet (MM or Keplr) 2⃣Use code: NgAMgDAG 3⃣Click "Start Node" - You may need to try a few times, but on a 3rd-4th try it launches for me 4⃣Keep tab open and earn points (can be in the background). 1 Point per second while mining 5⃣Check back every 24 hours and grab extra points (click "Claim Reward" at the top nav) The more tab stays open = more points 🛠️Testnet Roll-out Structure ➡️Phase 1: Closed Testnet (Jan 22–28, 2025) 🔸Stress-testing with browser-based light nodes and limited access 🔸*this may be extend by a few days🔸 ➡️Phase 2: Public Beta Testnet (Jan 28, 2025) 🔸Full launch with browser-based and system-based light nodes, more protocol integrations and more What is LayerEdge? LayerEdge makes Bitcoin more useful by solving two main problems: 1. It makes complex computations cheaper and faster by doing them off the Bitcoin network while still maintaining Bitcoin’s security. 2. It bundles multiple verifications into one, reducing costs by up to 95%, which makes it much more affordable for apps and services to use Bitcoin’s security. Think of LayerEdge like a smart assistant for Bitcoin - it handles the complicated work elsewhere but checks back with Bitcoin to make sure everything is correct and secure. This approach allows Bitcoin to support more advanced applications like gaming and IoT devices without becoming slow or expensive. The key benefit is that instead of paying $900+ for each verification on Bitcoin, protocols using LayerEdge might pay less than $20 when sharing costs with others. Source: 🫡

OpenClaw - the agentic software spreading like wildfire - was built on top of Pi, a minimalist, self-modifying agent. I sat down with Pi's creator, Mario Zechner and longtime Pi user (+ the creator of Flask) Armin Ronacher ⇌ to talk Pi, and their (very grounded!) takes on building with AI. Timestamps: 00:00 Intro 07:30 How Mario, Armin, and Peter Steinberger met 15:15 How 30 dev teams use AI agents: learnings 21:50 The importance of judgment 24:26 Challenges when non-engineers write code 28:30 Downsides of over-automation 32:18 Pi 48:09 OpenClaw + Pi 50:54 “Clankers” 57:32 Open source and AI 1:00:22 Complexity as the enemy 1:02:50 Building an AI-native startup 1:11:52 “Slow the F down” 1:16:40 MCPs vs. CLI 1:25:03 Predictions and staying up to date • YouTube: • Spotify: • Apple: Brought to you by: • Statsig – The unified platform for flags, analytics, experiments, and more. • Sonar — The makers of SonarQube, the industry standard for code verification and automated code review. Try it out for yourself. • WorkOS – WorkOS gives you APIs to ship enterprise features – SSO, directory sync, RBAC, audit logs – in days, not months. Visit learn more. --- Three parts I found especially interesting in this discussion: 1. New trend: AI makes it harder for senior engineers to reject pointless complexity. Historically, senior engineers kept software complexity at bay simply by saying “no” a lot. But Armin observes that these days, more junior engineers and product managers deploy agent-scripted counterarguments when a senior colleague kicks an idea to the curb. This makes decision-making exhausting, and more bad ideas make it into production as a result. 2. It should be MUCH easier to build specialized tools for specific tasks. Different projects need different harness types because, as Mario points out, the same hammer is not ideal for every single construction job. As such, Pi is built with the goal of allowing the creation of specialized harnesses. It can modify itself so that a user can create the bespoke harness needed for any task. Mario believes it’s a preview of how self-modifiable software might look in the future. 3. Automation bias is one of the biggest risks of working with AI agents. Once devs confirm that an AI agent can produce acceptable code, they start to review its output less often, even though agents can – and do! – produce slop. Mario advises being far more sceptical with agents, and cautions that the quality of their output isn’t guaranteed, however well they performed previously.

THIS WEEKEND'S STORM FEATURES MANY TWISTS AND TURNS.. MY 1ST CALL SNOWFALL MAP... I feel strongly enough to put out a first look at the weekend storm (Saturday afternoon - Sunday morning) as the models have essentially held on to a consistent trend in the vort max and low development going into Saturday afternoon. Two area's that remain a stronger confidence level for me is the area in pink where the mode of precip is pure snow and gray area where mixing will be a big factor during the middle of the event. When you run the overall precip numbers and thermals you arrive in this ball park (outlined below) The twists and turns come into play once we see the vort max rotate north and the interaction between the energy and coastal low by Saturday night. This is why you see such a massive range (6-16") in the pink area as this could either go into a more moderate snow event working off 10:1-11:1 ratios and ending quickly OR we see a slower process with more moisture working northbound. The area in white should see at least 4" with a 6" maximum. I don't see this area going much higher given all that is on the table and how climatology goes. That said, this is also an area I could easily extend into #Baltimore and #DC faster than #Philadelphia and #NYC given wind vectors and cold air advancement. A personal aside, as a TV meteorologist and private sector forecaster I don't like to over-promise and under deliver. That costs $$ and bothers people. That being said, I will not dilute a forecast to hedge it as playing conservative holds more danger to public perception. So understanding my position should hopefully squash any bias you may feel I have :) Here's my initial feeling as we stand here at 6pm on 1/2/24 for a forecast for the weekend! MORE LATER..

Just six months ago, DHH (creator of Ruby on Rails and Omarchy) said how he doesn’t really use AI tools to write code, because they are not good enough. Things have changed, a lot. Timestamps: 00:00 Intro 02:11 Omarchy and Ruby on Rails 08:25 37signals overview 10:12 Launching HEY 18:38 Building HEY 22:47 Designers at 37signals 28:08 The craft of design 31:52 Why DHH now embraces AI workflows 39:45 The AI inflection point 44:23 DHH’s agent-first workflow 55:09 AI’s impact on junior developers 1:03:08 Developer experience with AI 1:16:43 What does AI mean for developers? 1:23:33 37signals teams and hiring 1:38:20 Work-life balance with AI 1:41:41 Why DHH keeps building 1:45:24 Closing Brought to you by: • Statsig – The unified platform for flags, analytics, experiments, and more. Stop switching between different tools, and have them all in one place. • WorkOS – Everything you need to make your app enterprise ready. WorkOS gives you APIs to ship enterprise features in days. Check out • Sonar – The makers of SonarQube, the industry standard for automated code review. See how SonarQube Advanced Security is empowering the Agent Centric Development Cycle (AC/DC) with new capabilities. Three interesting observations from this conversation: #1 DHH's philosophy on AI has not changed, but the available tools very much have. Autocomplete-style coding assistants were genuinely annoying for experienced developers six months ago. Things changed with the shift from tab-completion to agent harnesses, plus the emergence of powerful models like Opus 4.5 – when agents started producing code which DHH does want to merge with little to no alteration. #2 Beautiful code and products aren’t matters of vanity; they’re signals of correctness. Dipping into philosophy, DHH says: “When something is beautiful, it’s likely to be correct.” He argues that Steve Jobs wanted the inside of a computer to be beautiful because people who care about circuit board layout are also those who sweat on the details of the UI. #3 DHH’s development workflow, today: He runs tmux to have two models running, and neovim in the center. Specifics: - One fast LLM running (typically Gemini 2.5) in one split terminal - A slow but more powerful model in another terminal (usually Opus) - NeoVim for reviewing diffs via Lazygit

For clarity: I'm no longer a MultiversX Ambassador. This is not a "today" thing, btw, and I only bring good feelings regarding these three months. Some key accomplishments going below (👇). The Ambassador Program was a 3-month pilot program that ended in June. It's up to the Foundation and the ambassadors to now decide whether they want to continue with it or not. In my case, the last two months have been super busy, and I decided that I want to dedicate more of my (scarce) free time to my family and not to MvX. As a volunteer (non-paid) ambassador, from March to June, I've shipped: 🫂A low-budget local meetup called Conexão Blockchain, sponsored by MultiversX and xAlliance (all funds gathered used to pay for the event and even some money gladly coming out of my pocket due to a provider's mistake), and powered by ZonTix 🏟. We had 11 attendees; 📱A Brazilian Telegram group (as the other was inactive) that went from zero to 28 members (now 25), coming from different communities; 📰 A Portuguese Newsletter (mvxbrasil.substack) covering ecosystem updates, with a focus on open-source development. It had 12 posts in these 3 months. ~1 per week; 🎥 Revamped my YouTube channel, with 12 EGLD-related videos in English and 5 in Portuguese (some were made in partnership with projects, or submitted to xA quest). 🤝Established some key connections with editors from local media outlets, IT and blockchain teachers, devs, and merchants - helping in their onboarding to MultiversX; 🧑‍🎓Participated in NearX's MultiversX Dojo, representing the Foundation. Learning, but also providing support, connecting Brazilian devs to the ecosystem, helping with documentation, and answering specific doubts from the other students. I've also made hundreds of posts related to MultiversX and $EGLD and, together with the other ambassadors, we were the bridge between the community and the foundation, often bringing feedback, or discussing with other ambassadors and the fdntn on provided feedbacks, community concerns, doubts, etc. All super well-received by our contact points (big kudos to Mihai Schiopu, Anca Boglea, and lukas, representing xAlliance). You guys did great on the amb. program, always open to feedback and also always so supportive on each of these accomplishments. Would not have been possible without your constant support and care. 🫶
