Robert Plant has been a familiar face in record shops worldwide, and they have... remained central to his musical life, cementing his status as a true Record Store Legend. Speaking at Spillers, Robert Plant said: Record stores have always been a part of my life. For me, once you get to the physical record it’s because you really want to know and be a part of what the artist was considering. And I know, as a guy who’s been making records since 1966, people want to take home something very special, to enjoy all the elements of what an artist has put together. We want a connection between the music and the art of the whole thing. Robert Plant chose SPILLERS RECORDS in Cardiff, the oldest record shop in the world, to receive home his plaque, immortalising Robert Plant's connection to not only this record shop, but the country that has inspired his songwriting. The installation highlights Robert Plant's ongoing support for record stores as cultural hubs which champion music and community, inviting fans to visit a record shop to share in their own love of music. 🔗show more

When Jay first did his rhyme, I’m like, ‘Alright, this is cool.’ But what really set that record off, for me at least, was when I added the [mimics the piano keys] at the very beginning. He does ‘turn my music high’ … it was just the perfect setup to a great record.” The producer added: “...If you notice, there's a start and stop with his [Jay-Z] rhymes, and the reason that is, is because he did the first verse and then he left it there. ...Every day he would come in to refine and work on a new idea. Aaron Levie has been the CEO of Box for 20 years and believes that systems of record become more important, not less, with agents: “Systems of record were built for a TAM of human employees. And that was sort of where the value maxed out at. And now maybe we'll have a hundred times more agents than people or a thousand times more agents than people. So I think on a relative basis, the agent layer will seize growth from zero to a trillion. But the system of record layer now has a thousand times more users on it that need to access data and need to execute a workflow and need to move things through various events. And importantly, you need as an enterprise to care about data integrity and security and the controls in your workflow and traffic copying the agents. So basically, this is where I am very diametrically opposed to the view that the system of record gets is squeezed into a database interaction layer because you actually need all of the core system of record properties for the agents to operate on.”

A musician himself, his taste in tunes is widely celebrated, and he has gone on record a number of times to state his love for the Beatles and particularly their singer John Lennon. When it comes to Murphy’s favourite Lennon album, he can’t look beyond his debut solo album, John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Murphy was asked what the best music he’s ever been recommended is. He replied, “So I’m a Beatles fanatic, a Beatles nut, and I have been ever since I was very young. My dad has been playing the Beatles since I was tiny.” He added, “I don’t know what age I was, and I don’t know exactly who it was, but someone introduced me to the Plastic Ono Band, the John Lennon record. It’s probably one of my favourite records of all time. Probably my favourite solo Beatles record.” The record was originally released back in 1970 on Apple Records.
