Have I told you, Donalyn, how much my grandson, almost 2, loves books? He goes through a stack of books each car trip, not to mention reading at home. I am going to use some of these BOOK A DAYS to discover new books for him. So much fun! And a nice break from heavier content.

Ok, you’ve dragged me into twitter world, Donalyn! I just received a really playful word play book called Wombat by Philip Bunting (Charlesbridge). It takes the word “wombat” and changes it up by alternating syllables and creating silly new words. The art is terrific.

This woman spent 10 years reading every holy book. The Bible, Quran, Torah, Vedas. Same verdict: they all oppress women. They all push racism. They all lock in class. These aren't ‘spiritual’ books, they're political books. Control bodies, bloodlines, power. Read them yourself. The truth's right there in the text. So when you see these Conservatives Politicians like Jamil Jivani pull these kind of stunts, remember what they stand for.

The Cultural Tutor grew to 1.6 million Twitter followers in less than two years of full-time writing. He insists that his unique writing style comes from his unique reading style. He avoids new books and basically doesn't read anything published in the past 50 years. The problem with new books isn't that they're bad. The problem is that everybody else is reading them, which doesn't give you much edge as a writer. In the words of The Cultural Tutor: "The simplest reason not to read something published in the last 50 years is because that's what everyone else is reading. The only books that most people read are books published in last, not even ... In the last six years, in the last two years. I'm not disparaging these authors. They've done incredibly well for themselves, and I have no doubt their books are filled with marvels and wonderful, wonderful things, but the rest of the world is reading them. And it's a simple fact of life that if you consume, you read what everyone else is reading, then the likelihood that you will write what they are writing, and worst of all, think what they are thinking increases. It's not certain, but if we all read the same books, we all think the same things."

they were talking abt reading books and the members agreed that Jun reads the most 🥹 🦦 but the one who reads the most is Jun hyung 🐻‍❄️ Jun hyung really reads all the time 🍒 ⚔️ *📱📱* 🦦 Jun has always kept reading even back in trainee days 🍊he also reads on his phone ⚔️ doesn’t reading on your phone hurt your eyes? 🐱 ive been reading physical books since high school, on trains or planes I get dizzy if the text is too small, but on a phone you can adjust the size 🍊 and even if the books only have text with no illustrations, he still enjoys them so much

🍒 "I'm detoxing for my dopamine." Dopamine detox by reading. I need to bring my brain back from being addicted to pain and joy. Our brains are in pain these days. (It's been) one day. I need to cut down. I try, but it's hard... I try not to, but I find myself watching short videos. I read some books at the end of December, though—about four books. There's a Korean novel called Rapids. It's a romantic novel, and I really enjoyed reading it. What else did I read? Let's see! Oh, I read a comic book too. There's a comic book called DVD. I think I read it when I was in middle school. Or was it elementary school? Middle school? It was written by the author Chon Kye-young. A scene I like from it! And also, this picture book called Blue Duck. Dopamine detox it is! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼" Chanyeol’s reading habits are so cool! I love how he casually mentions books and novels—it makes me want to read more too.🥹🥹🥹 #Chanyeol #찬열

Carl Sagan put it beautifully. "If I were to read a book a week for my entire adult lifetime, and I lived an ordinary lifetime, when I was all done, I would have read maybe a few thousand books. No more. In this library, that's from about here to about here. But that's only a tenth of a percent or so of the total number of books in the library. The trick is to know which books to read."
