We are Indians, not Chinese. On 30 December, I joined students from across the Northeast at Jantar Mantar in Delhi in a powerful, student-led protest demanding justice for Anjel Chakma, who lost his life after a brutal, racially motivated attack in Dehradun. The protest reflected the deep pain, anger, and insecurity that people from the Northeast continue to experience due to persistent prejudice and racial violence. Today I stand in solidarity and with a grave sense of responsibility.

#WATCH | Delhi: On meeting with people from the northeast, BJP MLA from Malviya Nagar, Satish Upadhyay, says, "I am shocked and strongly condemn the way this incident occurred with three young women. Such incidents of discrimination have no place in Delhi, and we will not tolerate them in any way. We have been in constant contact with the police since the 20th, and they have taken action. The police have also arrested them. These incidents are completely aimed at dividing the country, and we stand completely with the victims. We will not allow any injustice to happen to our brothers and sisters from the Northeast, or to the students from the Northeast, in Delhi, and we will not tolerate it..."
