Another bombshell has dropped, further deepening the controversy surrounding Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence 😱 A leaked audio, shared by popular whistleblower Sheikh Murtala Asada of Sokoto, allegedly captures Matawalle stating that insecurity was politicised and used to remove former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan from office,... and that they had plans to also use banditry to unseat the APC in a subsequent election before his defection to the party. Sheikh Asada also challenged Matawalle’s claim that the Buhari administration supported his engagement with bandits, citing a BBC report in which former President Muhammadu Buhari clearly stated that he would not support any governor who empowers armed bandits by paying them under the guise of peace negotiations, particularly after the kidnapping of over 300 pupils in Zamfara State. The cleric further clarified that his criticism of Matawalle predates his appointment as minister, noting that he had consistently called out the former governor over his peace talks with bandits while he was still in office. According to Asada, this long-standing opposition was one of the reasons Matawalle eventually defected from the PDP to the APC, countering claims that his actions are motivated by the ministerial appointment.
