Another convenient usage of DUSt3R (kind of anecdotal): While looking for a rental apartment on airbnb for my vacations, i noticed I had difficulty grasping the layout and space of the apartment based on photos alone. Solution: put all photos in DUSt3R and voila :)

the amount of apartments I've seen that don't have a 3d layout is insane. You'd prob make a lot of money by automating that alone

in theory it could, because it doesn't care about the camera calibration and lens distortion. BUT - it was not trained with distorted images - it was not trained with spherical images so you'll have to finetune it at minima...
