Another day, another vicious antisemitic attack in Britain. Last night, a synagogue in London was firebombed. I meant it when I said I fear for my life. Jews here are under attack, yet the government does nothing. Stand with us. Antisemitism is a cancer that must be defeated.

I was humbled to join Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, Michigan, for Shabbat services last night to stand with the Jewish community after a horrific antisemitic terror attack against the synagogue. During my remarks to the congregation, I shared that Israel stands with the community, now and always, just as the community has always stood with Israel. Antisemitism must be confronted, condemned, and combated wherever it appears.

The father was killed, the mother and two children were wounded, and one child remains in extremely critical condition. My heart breaks for Yaron and Sarah, the two Israeli Embassy staffers who were murdered last night in a targeted attack outside of the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. This despicable crime is yet another horrific example of the antisemitism that has run rampant in our country, and we all must stand up and speak out against extremism, violence, and hatred.

The violent attack at Congregation Chasedei Bobov was a disgusting antisemitic hate crime. I want to thank Toronto Police for making a swift arrest. I also want to thank the congregation for welcoming me today and giving me the space to listen. Toronto is a city where everyone must be free to practice their faith and live without fear. An attack on one community is an attack on all of us. We all have a responsibility to stand against hate and I will always stand with Toronto’s Jewish community.
