Today, I want to share two big lessons I learnt in the past one month. So here’s what happened. It all started with an unexpected physical setback of all places in Port Blair (now Sri Vijayapuram) on 20th December. That morning, I suddenly suffered what is called in medical terms, bilateral foot drop, meaning I lost all power in my feet. I couldn’t walk without support (the 1st video shows the limpness in feet); Somehow, I got back to Delhi on a wheelchair. As I consulted Dr Satnam Chhabra, renowned neurosurgeon (he had treated me earlier) at the Gangaram Hospital. He was worried and immediately recommended surgery since my L-4 disc was compressing the nerve. As I was mentally preparing to undergo the surgery in the last week of 2024, many dark and negative thoughts were playing in the mind (will I have to spend rest of my life on wheelchair? Will prolonged sitting and writing be a problem?) My immediate family was equally worried since we were told, it normally takes 6-7 months of intense physiotherapy and exercise to regain the strength and ‘flex’ in my feet even after the surgery. As I waited for the scheduled day of surgery and as the year was ebbing away, pessimism was creeping in. Then a friend suggested I consult Dr Sandeep Vaishya, another highly-skilled neurosurgeon and executive director of Fortis Hospitals. Thanks to this friend, Dr Sandeep said he will carry out a ‘key-hole’ surgery, which is quicker than an open surgery and takes lesser time to heal. So, on 30th December, I was wheeled into the operation theatre. Five hours later, I was back in the room and by evening, the hospital physiotherapist made me walk, albeit with support (2nd video). As the New Year dawned, I was back home! Now came the part entirely dependent on my own mental and physical strength, support and care by my wife and children. Thus began the recovery process. After a weeklong break, our websites and YT channels were back to work in the meantime. Since I know nothing else but work, it was hard to stay away from office. So, I took courage in both hands and went to office on 3rd January so as to assess my own ability to recover quickly (3rd video). Two weeks since then, life is almost back to normal (4th video, welcoming Nana Patekar to office on 17th January). I like to consider myself as a practical, take-life-as-it-comes-kind of a guy. And so far life has indeed been a busy, fulfilling journey with no time to philosophise much but the last 30 days have taught me to think deeper. Why am I sharing these details? Because of two reasons: A reinforcement of my own long-held belief that life can be extremely uncertain and therefore one must live in the moment, enjoy every opportunity that comes one’s way to achieve whatever your aim in life is and not plan too much for the future. And two, family, friends and their support is the greatest wealth one can acquire. Celebrate them and this incredible gift called life. Rest is all peripheral.

The 29-year-old Afghan man suspected of shooting two National Guardsmen yesterday in Washington, D.C., was “clean on all checks,” a senior U.S. official told CNN. The official told CNN that “the US government had been doing continuous, annual vetting of individuals since the Afghans’ arrival in the US, especially in the wake of the failed terror plot disrupted before the election last year in Oklahoma, which involved an Afghan evacuee.” But a senior intelligence official told Public, “There wasn’t adequate screening done,” of Afghan evacuees. “We don’t have good fidelity on who any of them are. We say ‘they’re vetted’ and he [the suspected shooter, Rahmanullah Lakanwal] was vetted. That meant we thought he wouldn’t turn his guns on us when we were paying him every month. And that worked for a decade with him. But the second we’re not doing that anymore, the deal on their end changes.” Lakanwal came to the US as part of the Biden administration’s “Operation Allies Welcome.” Said the official, who asked to be anonymous, “Nation-building failed. We ended up importing massive amounts of people.” Some online have asked why the US didn’t return the evacuees and why they were brought to the US in the first place. “The average Trump voter is asking, ‘Didn’t I vote to kick them out?’ I think that’s fair.” The person said they were told earlier this year, upon entering the Intelligence Community, “You don’t know how bad it is now,” regarding the government’s inadequate screening of evacuees. Over the last decade, Western media, academics, and policymakers have understandably viewed right-wing nationalist victories as temporary aberrations soon to be corrected. After Britons voted to leave the European Union in June 2016 and Americans elected Donald Trump that November, prominent commentators predicted a swift return to deepening globalization. And indeed, Europe extended its globalist project. The United Kingdom’s globalist Conservative governments allowed net migration to rise to a record 906,000 in the year ending June 2023, more than four times pre-Brexit levels. Those same Conservatives passed a “net zero” emissions by 2050 into law in 2019, accelerated subsidies for offshore wind, and failed to tap North Sea oil and gas, even as energy bills climbed. And conservative ministers adopted World Health Organization guidance for Covid lockdowns, masking, and vaccination, and they expanded gender self-identification guidance in English schools. German and French establishment parties enforced a cordon sanitaire or firewall against the “far-right” Alternative for Germany (AfD) and the Rassemblement National (RN) parties, denying them coalition partners and most mainstream coverage, and American voters in 2020 elected Joe Biden, who reversed Trump’s border policies and rejoined the Paris climate accord on his first day in office. Biden restored Obama-era diversity, equity, and inclusion frameworks across the federal bureaucracy and revived federal pressure on social media companies to remove disfavored speech. But then, the reelection of Donald Trump in November 2024 dashed those hopes. Trump returned to power on promises to seal the southern border, deport illegal immigrants, end the electric vehicle mandate, withdraw from the Paris accord, and dismantle federal censorship of social media. Within hours of taking office, he signed an executive order banning federal involvement in online censorship and stripped the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency of its role in policing so-called misinformation. Vice President JD Vance told a stunned Munich Security Conference audience in February 2025 that “the threat I worry the most about vis-à-vis Europe is not Russia, it’s not China, it’s not any other external actor. What I worry about is the threat from within.” In February 2025, Trump called the European Union an “atrocity” and announced new tariffs. Democrats may yet retake the White House in 2028 and one or both chambers of Congress in this fall’s midterms. The Trump administration’s war with Iran, which began on February 28, 2026, has triggered the largest oil supply shock on record, rising gasoline prices, and a potential recession. Trump’s net approval rating sits at minus 23 points with 60% disapproving and 37% approving. California Governor Gavin Newsom unveiled a balanced $350 billion budget last week and called Trump and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent “dumb and dumber” as he positioned himself for a 2028 run. And both Newsom and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez spoke at the Munich Security Conference in February, implicitly responding to Vance, with Newsom telling the audience, “Donald Trump is temporary. He’ll be gone in three years.” And the globalists are fighting back in Europe. European Commission officials in Brussels are tightening their censorial grip on the digital public square through the Digital Services Act and a “Democracy Shield” program to demand censorship of the Right ahead of upcoming elections. In Britain, Labor leadership challengers Andy Burnham and Wes Streeting have openly called for the United Kingdom to rejoin the European Union. Streeting formally launched his leadership bid in May 2026 by calling Brexit “a catastrophic mistake” and saying “Britain’s future lies with Europe, and one day back in the European Union.” And France’s Marine Le Pen lost her right to run for the 2027 presidency on March 31, 2025, when a Paris court convicted her of embezzling EU funds and immediately barred her from public office for five years. But right-wing nationalists are not far from taking power in major European capitals. In Britain, the right-wing Reform UK party gained more than 1,400 seats in the May 7, 2026, local elections, while Labor lost more than 1,300 seats and the Conservatives lost over 500. Ninety-seven Labor MPs last week called on Prime Minister Keir Starmer to resign. Seventy percent of British respondents told YouGov in May 2026 that Starmer was performing “poorly.” In France, Jordan Bardella of the RN leads in the polls for the 2027 presidential election with 35 - 37.5% support, with Marine Le Pen close behind at 34% before her ban. President Emmanuel Macron’s approval rating fell to 11% in late 2025, the lowest the Verian polling firm had ever recorded. And in Germany, the AfD leads national polling at 29% against the center-right CDU/CSU’s 22%, the Greens’ 14%, and the SPD’s 12% as of mid-May 2026. Berlin polls now put the AfD in second place behind the CDU, a position once considered politically impossible in the capital. And mainstream conservative parties are already moving to the right on migration and climate. German Chancellor and CDU leader Friedrich Merz passed a non-binding migration motion in January with AfD support, breaking a seventy-five-year taboo against cooperating with the “far right.” Merz adopted much of the AfD’s migration language during his campaign, promising to turn migrants away at the border and to accelerate deportations. The cordon sanitaire that excluded the right has cracked, and the political center of gravity in Germany, and in much of Europe, has shifted toward the very positions that establishment leaders spent a decade demonizing. The implications for Europe, NATO, and the broader Western order are massive. NATO’s basic premise rests on a shared American and European commitment to defending an open liberal order, but Vance told European leaders in Munich that US support would depend on whether they honored free speech and democratic legitimacy, which they have not done. Tariffs and trade disputes between Washington and Brussels have replaced the steady tariff reductions that defined the postwar order. And the institutions that defined the transatlantic system since 1945, including NATO, the World Trade Organization, the World Health Organization, the United Nations climate accords, the World Economic Forum, and the European Union itself, are weaker than ever. Meanwhile, historic US support for maintaining open shipping lanes and Taiwan appears to be weakening. For nearly a decade, the legacy media and progressive activists demonized Trump, Farage, Bardella, and Weidel as fascists or Nazis bent on destroying democracy. For the hundredth time, Archie and Lili are apparently about to meet the Royal Family. 🥱 How desperate and disgusting do Harry and Meghan Markle have to be to use their children’s names as clickbait every single time they need attention? Every few months it’s the same story. Archie and Lili might come to the UK. Archie and Lili might meet the Royal Family. Archie and Lili might attend Invictus. The same bait gets recycled again and again because Harry and Meghan know the children generate far more interest than they do. The purpose is to generate media attention and public interest for their UK visit. After all, they don’t want another Australia trip or Geneva-style embarrassment where the crowds fail to materialize and the excitement isn’t there. Their relevance is going down the drain, Ass Ever is burning cash, and they need people talking about them. And are we seriously supposed to believe Meghan is suddenly bringing those children to Britain for free? After years of back-of-the-head photographs, blurry images, carefully cropped pictures, and strategic glimpses? Please. We’ve seen enough of Meghan’s playbook by now to know better than that. What makes this even more ridiculous is that these are the same two people who constantly lecture everyone about privacy, security, and protecting children. If the children’s safety is supposedly the highest priority, why are their possible travel plans being splashed across the media weeks in advance? Why tell the public at all? Because the point isn’t privacy. The point is attention. And how interesting that this information was suddenly released to the media on the exact day Catherine was returning to Royal Ascot after three years away. Yet how marvellous that it didn’t work.💅🏻 Catherine was still the story. Catherine was still the headline. Catherine was still the person everyone was talking about. You can see hundreds of photos of Torres del Paine before you go and still be surprised by how much of the park has nothing to do with the famous towers. There are turquoise lakes, glaciers, waterfalls, open grasslands and lenga forests. Guanacos graze near the road. Condors ride the wind above the mountains. Depending on the hour, the Paine Massif can fill the horizon or disappear almost completely behind clouds. The three granite towers are the image everyone knows, but they’re only one part of the place. Torres del Paine National Park sits in southern Chile, where the Andes meet the Patagonian steppe. The park covers more than 227,000 hectares and has been part of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 1978. Glaciers carved much of what you see today, and ice still runs through the story of the landscape. People were moving through this part of Patagonia long before hikers started arriving with trekking poles and backpacks. The Aónikenk, often called Tehuelche, traveled through the region for thousands of years. Ranching came much later, and large estancias eventually spread across land that now belongs to the park. Sheep, horses and ranch workers were here before refugios and marked trails. The national park was created in 1959 and expanded in the decades that followed. You can still see bits of the ranching past in old buildings, fences and horses along the road. Most trips begin in Puerto Natales. I’d stay there the night before heading into the park rather than treating it as somewhere to sleep between a flight and a bus. The town sits on the water with mountains in the distance, and it’s a good place to have dinner, buy anything you forgot and check your gear one last time. Patagonian lamb shows up on plenty of menus, along with seafood from southern Chile. The drive north is where the trip really starts. Buildings become less frequent. The road cuts through broad stretches of grassland. Guanacos begin appearing in the fields, sometimes close enough to the road that traffic slows down for them. Then, eventually, the mountains show up in the distance. That first view is worth paying attention to. Wildlife is easier to see here than I expected. Guanacos are common. Rheas move through the open country. Foxes live in the park, and condors can sometimes be spotted circling high above the valleys. Pumas are here too, though seeing one usually takes luck, patience or a guide who knows where to look. A lot of people come specifically for the W Trek. The route connects several of the park’s best-known areas, including Base Torres, French Valley and Grey Glacier, and most hikers take about four or five days to complete it. If you like multi-day hiking, it’s an obvious way to see a large part of the park without spending your days getting in and out of a vehicle. The Base Torres hike can also be done on its own. It’s a long day. The trail climbs through the Ascencio Valley, passes through forest and ends with a steep section over rocks before you reach the glacial lake beneath the towers. On a clear day, the view at the top is exactly the one that probably made you want to come here. Of course, Patagonia may have other plans. You can leave under blue skies and arrive with the towers hidden behind cloud. An hour later they might be visible again. Weather changes quickly enough that there’s not much point obsessing over a forecast days in advance. Layers matter. So does a waterproof jacket. The wind is harder to appreciate until you experience it. Patagonia is famous for it, but “windy” doesn’t really describe those moments when a gust hits hard enough to make you adjust your footing on the trail. You’ll also notice trees that have spent their lives growing in one direction. The good news is that you don’t need to hike the W, or even spend every day on a long trail, to see Torres del Paine well. A lot of the park is accessible by road and shorter walks. Salto Grande is an easy stop. Water rushes through a narrow channel between Lake Nordenskjöld and Lake Pehoé, and from there you can continue toward viewpoints of the Cuernos del Paine. The Cuernos look very different from the towers. Their dark upper sections sit above lighter granite walls, and from some angles they’re the mountains I’d rather photograph. Lake Pehoé is close by and deserves time of its own. On the right day, the water turns an almost unreasonable shade of blue-green. The mountains rise behind it, and there are places along the road where you’ll probably pull over even though you hadn’t planned to stop. Grey Glacier is on the western side of the park. It flows down from the Southern Patagonian Ice Field into Grey Lake. Once you see it, the broad valleys and glacial lakes you’ve been passing start to make more sense. Ice shaped much of this place, and here you can still watch part of that story unfolding. There are hiking routes toward viewpoints of the glacier, and boat trips cross Grey Lake for a closer look. Depending on conditions, pieces of ice float in the water between the boat and the glacier. That part of the park feels different from the open country farther east. This is something I’d pay attention to throughout the trip. Torres del Paine changes surprisingly quickly as you move around it. The eastern side opens into Patagonian steppe. Forest becomes more common near the mountains. One lake can be deep blue, another turquoise, another gray beneath the clouds. Rivers run through valleys that seem almost empty. An hour in the car can take you through several versions of Patagonia. That’s why three full days would be my minimum even if you aren’t doing the W Trek. Four is better if the schedule allows. You could spend a day on the Base Torres hike, another around Grey Lake and the western side of the park, and another around Lake Pehoé, Salto Grande and shorter walks. The extra time gives you room to change plans when the weather turns. Where you stay makes a noticeable difference. Puerto Natales has more restaurants, hotels and services, and staying there can keep costs down. The downside is spending more time each day getting to and from the park. Staying inside or near Torres del Paine costs more, but you wake up much closer to the trails and viewpoints. If I could split the trip, I’d spend the first or last night in Puerto Natales and the rest closer to the park. Anyone hiking overnight should sort out refugios or campsites well in advance during the busy season. It’s also worth checking current trail conditions and park rules shortly before arriving, because Patagonia has a way of making plans made six months earlier feel provisional. For most first-time visitors, the warmer months are the easiest time to come. Late spring through early fall in the Southern Hemisphere brings longer daylight and better odds for hiking, although it also brings more people. “Summer” is still a relative term down here. Pack the rain jacket. By the end of a few days, the famous towers may not even be the thing you remember most clearly. It might be a line of guanacos moving across a hillside. The sound of the wind against the car. A glacier appearing across a lake. An empty stretch of road with the Paine Massif slowly getting larger in front of you. Those moments are harder to plan, which is probably why they stick. Come for Base Torres if that’s what first caught your attention. See Grey Glacier. Stop at Lake Pehoé. Hike as much as your legs and the weather allow. But don’t spend the whole trip racing from one famous view to the next. Some of my favorite stretches would probably be the drives between them: old ranch country, open steppe, guanacos scattered across the hills and mountains that keep appearing and disappearing as the clouds move through. You’ll take plenty of pictures in Torres del Paine. Every once in a while, leave the camera in the bag. The route connects several of the park’s best-known areas, including Base Torres, French Valley and Grey Glacier, and most hikers take about four or five days to complete it. If you like multi-day hiking, it’s an obvious way to see a large part of the park without spending your days getting in and out of a vehicle. The Base Torres hike can also be done on its own. It’s a long day. The trail climbs through the Ascencio Valley, passes through forest and ends with a steep section over rocks before you reach the glacial lake beneath the towers. On a clear day, the view at the top is exactly the one that probably made you want to come here. Of course, Patagonia may have other plans. You can leave under blue skies and arrive with the towers hidden behind cloud. An hour later they might be visible again. Weather changes quickly enough that there’s not much point obsessing over a forecast days in advance. Layers matter. So does a waterproof jacket. The wind is harder to appreciate until you experience it. Patagonia is famous for it, but “windy” doesn’t really describe those moments when a gust hits hard enough to make you adjust your footing on the trail. You’ll also notice trees that have spent their lives growing in one direction. The good news is that you don’t need to hike the W, or even spend every day on a long trail, to see Torres del Paine well. A lot of the park is accessible by road and shorter walks. Salto Grande is an easy stop. Water rushes through a narrow channel between Lake Nordenskjöld and Lake Pehoé, and from there you can continue toward viewpoints of the Cuernos del Paine. The Cuernos look very different from the towers. Their dark upper sections sit above lighter granite walls, and from some angles they’re the mountains I’d rather photograph. Lake Pehoé is close by and deserves time of its own. On the right day, the water turns an almost unreasonable shade of blue-green. The mountains rise behind it, and there are places along the road where you’ll probably pull over even though you hadn’t planned to stop. Grey Glacier is on the western side of the park. It flows down from the Southern Patagonian Ice Field into Grey Lake. Once you see it, the broad valleys and glacial lakes you’ve been passing start to make more sense. Ice shaped much of this place, and here you can still watch part of that story unfolding. There are hiking routes toward viewpoints of the glacier, and boat trips cross Grey Lake for a closer look. Depending on conditions, pieces of ice float in the water between the boat and the glacier. That part of the park feels different from the open country farther east. This is something I’d pay attention to throughout the trip. Torres del Paine changes surprisingly quickly as you move around it. The eastern side opens into Patagonian steppe. Forest becomes more common near the mountains. One lake can be deep blue, another turquoise, another gray beneath the clouds. Rivers run through valleys that seem almost empty. An hour in the car can take you through several versions of Patagonia. That’s why three full days would be my minimum even if you aren’t doing the W Trek. Four is better if the schedule allows. You could spend a day on the Base Torres hike, another around Grey Lake and the western side of the park, and another around Lake Pehoé, Salto Grande and shorter walks. The extra time gives you room to change plans when the weather turns. Where you stay makes a noticeable difference. Puerto Natales has more restaurants, hotels and services, and staying there can keep costs down. The downside is spending more time each day getting to and from the park. Staying inside or near Torres del Paine costs more, but you wake up much closer to the trails and viewpoints. If I could split the trip, I’d spend the first or last night in Puerto Natales and the rest closer to the park. Anyone hiking overnight should sort out refugios or campsites well in advance during the busy season. It’s also worth checking current trail conditions and park rules shortly before arriving, because Patagonia has a way of making plans made six months earlier feel provisional. For most first-time visitors, the warmer months are the easiest time to come. Late spring through early fall in the Southern Hemisphere brings longer daylight and better odds for hiking, although it also brings more people. “Summer” is still a relative term down here. Pack the rain jacket. By the end of a few days, the famous towers may not even be the thing you remember most clearly. It might be a line of guanacos moving across a hillside. The sound of the wind against the car. A glacier appearing across a lake. An empty stretch of road with the Paine Massif slowly getting larger in front of you. Those moments are harder to plan, which is probably why they stick. Come for Base Torres if that’s what first caught your attention. See Grey Glacier. Stop at Lake Pehoé. Hike as much as your legs and the weather allow. But don’t spend the whole trip racing from one famous view to the next. Some of my favorite stretches would probably be the drives between them: old ranch country, open steppe, guanacos scattered across the hills and mountains that keep appearing and disappearing as the clouds move through. You’ll take plenty of pictures in Torres del Paine. Every once in a while, leave the camera in the bag. The Tesla Cybercab launch was magical. I’ve spent years talking about what autonomous transportation would become. This week, I got to live it. Some people are probably still going to say: “Elon was late.” “FSD will never work.” “Tesla is still just a car company.” “Who would trust a car w/ no driver?” “Who would ever get into a car w/ no steering wheel or pedals?” “Cybercab/Robotaxis will never scale.” I’ve heard versions of this stuff for years… And yet here I was. Sitting inside the product. Paying for rides. Driving around Austin w/ nobody behind the wheel. After experiencing Cybercab myself, I understand what the Tesla team was building toward. The car. The autonomy. The safety. The software. The app. The pickup experience. The doors. The payment. The entire experience had to feel like ONE product. Bc if Tesla gets that experience right and then scales it across America, this becomes MUCH bigger than another Tesla vehicle. It will change how people think about owning a car. It changes ride-hailing. It changes what we do with the time we currently spend driving. It changes transportation. And I think Tesla absolutely knocked this product out of the park. What makes this even more personal for me is how grateful I am that I was invited to experience this moment. As the only Korean in the world, being invited to the launch and getting the opportunity to be the first one to ride in a Cybercab is something I’ll remember for the rest of my life. Seriously. What a freaking life… hate me or love me, nothing honestly compares to this. Austin… Your food was incredible. The people were unbelievably kind to me. The city treated my family and me so well. I loved almost everything about you, except the heat. And Tesla and Elon… Thank you. You have genuinely changed the direction of my life. You gave me something I am deeply passionate about. The products. The technology. The people building them. The crazy ideas that sound impossible right up until the day they’re sitting in front of you. Today I head back to the Bay Area. But my mind can’t stop thinking about what I just experienced. There was a point when people started saying Tesla’s biggest growth days were behind it. After this week… I feel the exact opposite. Cybercab reignited that fire in me. It feels like I just watched the first few minutes of the next chapter/book of Tesla. And if what I experienced in Austin scales to cities around the country… Transportation will NEVER be the same. One day my kids will look back at human-driven cars the same way we look at an elevator operator today. Something that once seemed completely normal… until technology made it unnecessary. The Tesla Cybercab launch was magical. I’ve spent years talking about what autonomous transportation would become. This week, I got to live it. And what surprised me most was NOT that the Cybercab had no steering wheel. It was NOT the butterfly doors. It was NOT even how futuristic the car looked. It was honestly how NORMAL it felt. I just get in. Sit down. Put my seatbelt on. Press one button. And go on w/ my life. No fear or anxiety at all. At one point I literally forgot there wasn’t a driver in front of me. The ride was unbelievably smooth. And that’s when it really hit me… this is how transportation changes… when the technology becomes so seamless that you stop thinking about the technology at all. The entire Cybercab experience is ridiculously simple: 1/ Order the Cybercab from your phone. 2/ It arrives, recognizes your phone, and can automatically open the door for you. 3/ Get in, buckle up, and the doors close. 4/ Press one button on the screen to begin the ride. 5/ You can work, talk, watch something, listen to music, enjoy the scenery… do whatever you want bc the car handles the entire driving. 6/ Arrive, get out, and payment is handled automatically via the app w/ no tipping. That’s it. California Democratic gubernatorial front-runner Xavier Becerra went viral yesterday for saying to a local Los Angeles television (KTLA) reporter, after she asked a hard question, “By the way, this is a profile piece, this is not a gotcha piece, right?” Reporter Annie Rose Ramos responded, appropriately, “These questions are fair. It’s in order to learn about you as a candidate.” Progressives responded by criticizing Becerra’s messaging. A progressive Pod Save America co-host and former Obama spokesman, posted on X, “Politicians and candidates…let your staff have these whiny conversations! Or at least don’t do it on camera!” Former Obama strategist David Axelrod wrote that Becerra, as HHS Secretary during COVID, “rarely was the administration’s point person in communicating to the American people on the pandemic,” adding that the KTLA exchange “may be the reason why.” But the underlying problem is not that Becerra is a poor communicator but rather that he is the person responsible for losing 85,000 migrant children under Biden’s open borders policy, which was what KTLA’s Ramos asked about. When Becerra was Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), its Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) could not reach more than 85,000 unaccompanied children after releasing them to sponsors. Eleven ORR managers warned in a July 2021 memo that labor trafficking was rising and that the system “rewards individuals for making quick releases, and not one that rewards individuals for preventing unsafe releases.” The New York Times found 13-year-olds working in meat plants, 12-year-olds at Hyundai and Kia supplier factories, and children who should have been in middle school working at commercial bakeries. Becerra defended himself to KTLA by claiming the New York Times had been misread. “That’s not what the New York Times article said,” he explained. “The New York Times said that individuals — the children and their sponsors — did not respond to calls. They didn’t say we couldn’t find kids.” And Becerra said the missing children weren’t HHS’s fault. “That part occurred after these children had left the care of the Department of Health and Human Services,” and that “some of these kids, probably because they needed to earn some money, started working in places that were very exploitive.” But Becerra made it sound like there is a difference between losing track of the children and not getting them to call back, when they are simply two ways of saying the same thing. And Becerra’s claim that exploitation happened only after children left HHS custody omits that HHS itself had loosened the sponsor vetting designed to prevent exploitation. The agency under his leadership shortened required document checks and waived in-person home studies in many cases. And HHS waived background checks, including sex offender and child abuse registry checks, for sponsors and other adults in households where children were placed. Digital fingerprinting to confirm sponsor identities dropped by 55 percent under Becerra, and at least 30,000 minors were placed with sponsors HHS knew were unrelated to them. A Florida statewide grand jury documented cases where one Austin, Texas household received more than 100 children, another Texas address received 44, and a third received 25. At a staff meeting, Becerra said, in a video, “If Henry Ford had seen this in his plants, he would have never become famous and rich. This is not the way you do an assembly line.” That remark came weeks after the July 2021 memo from 11 ORR managers complaining that the office “rewards individuals for making quick releases.” Becerra told ORR Director Cindy Huang during a March 2022 call that if she could not increase the number of discharges, “he would find someone who could,” according to five people who described the call to the Times. Huang resigned a month later. Becerra made a similar threat to her successor, according to several people present at the meeting. At least five HHS staff members filed complaints, alleging they were pushed out after raising concerns about child safety. HHS staff in 2023 wrote in a memo to their bosses saying, “We are pulling humanity out of ‘Health and Human Services.’” A former senior HHS staffer who helped build the ORR program told the Times that she filed a whistleblower complaint after being demoted for raising child safety concerns. President Donald Trump is abandoning Ukraine and putting Europe in danger by negotiating directly with Russian President Vladimir Putin and criticizing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, say the media, many European leaders, and some in Congress. But it is not in the interests of the United States to be involved in another endless war like Afghanistan that ultimately has the same outcome. Russians retain their numerical advantage. The supplies and capacities of Ukrainians and the European nations that support them are dwindling. The war has ended the lives of 200,000 people at a total cost of trillions. The US has spent $64 billion, and Europe has spent $62 billion on military aid for Ukraine, and another $50 billion and $70 billion, respectively, on other forms of aid. It’s true that Trump’s actions since taking office for his second term suggest an effort to end the so-called “international rules-based order” that has existed since World War II. And France and the UK have proposed continuing that order by sending 30,000 European peacekeeping troops to deter Russia, with US fighter jets and missiles to support them. But there is little appetite among Europeans or Americans for a long-term Western military occupation of Ukraine that is not guaranteed to work and may still trigger conflict with a nuclear-armed Russia. A Russian government representative has already rejected the proposal as a “dangerous provocation.” And the people who are demanding the US continue the war in Ukraine are the same people who got us into the war. Many are loyalists to past US presidents, including the last one, whose policies helped lead to the war by expanding NATO. Moreover, it is dishonest to call the Pax Americana that has existed since World War II an “international rules-based order.” From CIA interference in the Italian elections of 1947 to wars in Southeast Asia, Latin America, and Africa in the 1960s and 1980s to George W. Bush’s illegal invasion of Iraq in 2003, the US government has exemplified what most every foreign policy realist and International Studies professor knows, which is that the global system is anarchic and governed by power, not morality. And, from 2016 until now, the joint effort by the US government and our allies in Europe to uphold the entirely fictitious “rules-based order” had become totalitarian. The globalists turned the regime change guns inward. The US government, alongside NATO, the EU, and the governments of Britain, Germany, and others, funded the creation of a Censorship Industrial Complex to finance wrongly named “nongovernmental organizations” that “flagged” to social media companies alleged “misinformation” and demanded its removal. Government-backed NGOs and media organizations conducted sophisticated “information operations,” to falsely label nationalist political parties in Europe as “fascist” and “far right,” to frame Trump as a Putin-controlled Hitler, and to smear ordinary citizens as Nazis. These coordinated propaganda and disinformation tactics were coupled with viewpoint-based censorship, thereby undermining the democratic process. Last year, NGOs funded by USAID and the State Department even pushed for the annulment of an election in Romania to prevent the victory of a nationalist candidate. Many American historians and sociologists have observed that the American people are, by nature and geography, more isolationist than globalist. We very much enjoy having large oceans to separate us from the wars in Europe and Asia. And, our rational response to being repeatedly wounded, shamed, and humiliated for our oft-disastrous foreign interventions is to turn inward and seek to heal our internal wounds. We have many. Americans on the Right and the Left have all rightly soured on foreign intervention. Indeed, opposition to more foreign wars is one of the few positive things both the radical Left and the “far right” can agree on. Afghanistan was an end-of-empire mistake that Americans do not want to repeat, and certainly not in Eastern Europe on the border with a territorial and nuclear-armed superpower. Trump was elected twice on a platform of anti-globalist nationalism. Its clear internal logic, America First, is wholly consistent with Left-wing opposition to the kinds of foreign interventions that Noam Chomsky rightly taught several generations of students not only failed on their own terms but were also fundamentally immoral. The nationalists who voters elected to the White House and Congress are not anti-imperialists, in that they still have global ambition, but their aversion to new foreign entanglements overlaps with the 20th-century Left more than the Right. We should critically evaluate whatever agreement they negotiate, and even their behavior during negotiations, but we should also keep in mind that the American people have given a clear mandate to Trump and Vance to end the war in Ukraine and significantly pull back from our two-decades-long role in overthrowing governments across Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Both the national mood and the popular mandate for the Trump administration to disentangle the US from the conflict in Ukraine and to transition our allies to greater security independence are clear. And yet many global media and governing elites — the cross-Atlantic foreign policy establishment, most European leaders, and most Democrats and many Republicans in Congress — are attacking the Trump administration’s efforts to negotiate peace in Ukraine. 🚨 ROCKTON, ILLINOIS: 8-MONTH-OLD FRENCH BULLDOG COLLAPSES AND DIES FROM EXTREME HEAT WHILE UNDER AN OFFICER’S WATCH - OWNER PLEADS FOR OVER 30 MINUTES FOR HELP On a hot, 97-degree day, Collazo Gonzalez was pulled over for speeding and detained for driving with a suspended license. Gonzalez stated that he did not know his license was suspended. Officers detained him and instructed him to call a family member for a ride because his vehicle was going to be towed. We requested all camera footage through an open records request to find out exactly what happened next. The result was a clear message from Rockton PD to me and my team: “You’ll only get what we want to send you.” They redacted nearly the entire written report. They also redacted very strange portions of the bodycam footage, including a portion where, allegedly, Gonzalez’s aunt was telling the officer over the phone to at least give the dog some water. She also told the officer, “The dog is gonna die if they don’t do anything.” There were other portions of the bodycam footage that were redacted as well. Gonzalez was pulled over at 12 : 40 pm. When he was pulled over, Kody, his 8-month-old French Bulldog, was already panting. When officers removed Gonzalez from the vehicle, they left Kody inside the non-running car for more than 20 minutes. During the process, Gonzalez asked if they could please put Kody in one of their police cars. He was ignored. At 1 : 02 pm, Kody was finally placed in the back of the police vehicle with Gonzalez. The AC was not on. When one of the female officers came to check on them, Gonzalez begged her for air. She turned on the air, but it was not cold. For the next 15–20 minutes, you can see Kody in visible distress. I have looked over every minute of this footage. And I cried. I haven’t cried watching bodycam footage in a long time. This made me cry. And if anyone wants the file, I’ll happily provide it. Then, approximately 30 minutes after being placed in the back of the hot police vehicle, another male officer finally comes to speak to Gonzalez. This is the footage I’m showing here. 👇 He listens as Gonzalez pleads with him over and over again while he stands there and doesn’t budge to help. In additional footage, you can see Gonzalez, with his clearly distressed dog, attempt to head toward a nearby house to get water. He is stopped by the officer so they can read off his citations. All while there appears to be no urgency for Kody. They then offered to drive Gonzalez several minutes to a nearby convenience store - not an emergency vet. And in this footage, they REDACTED anything said about the emergency involving Kody, but the sound came back in when they were discussing Gonzalez’s citations. I will share another video in the thread with more context regarding this. Unfortunately, Kody later passed away in Collazo Gonzalez’s arms. Gonzalez has retained an attorney and has actively tried to raise awareness about what happened to Kody. RIP, baby. 💔

🚨 ROCKTON, ILLINOIS: 8-MONTH-OLD FRENCH BULLDOG COLLAPSES AND DIES FROM EXTREME HEAT WHILE UNDER AN OFFICER’S WATCH - OWNER PLEADS FOR OVER 30 MINUTES FOR HELP On a hot, 97-degree day, Collazo Gonzalez was pulled over for speeding and detained for driving with a suspended license. Gonzalez stated that he did not know his license was suspended. Officers detained him and instructed him to call a family member for a ride because his vehicle was going to be towed. We requested all camera footage through an open records request to find out exactly what happened next. The result was a clear message from Rockton PD to me and my team: “You’ll only get what we want to send you.” They redacted nearly the entire written report. They also redacted very strange portions of the bodycam footage, including a portion where, allegedly, Gonzalez’s aunt was telling the officer over the phone to at least give the dog some water. She also told the officer, “The dog is gonna die if they don’t do anything.” There were other portions of the bodycam footage that were redacted as well. Gonzalez was pulled over at 12 : 40 pm. When he was pulled over, Kody, his 8-month-old French Bulldog, was already panting. When officers removed Gonzalez from the vehicle, they left Kody inside the non-running car for more than 20 minutes. During the process, Gonzalez asked if they could please put Kody in one of their police cars. He was ignored. At 1 : 02 pm, Kody was finally placed in the back of the police vehicle with Gonzalez. The AC was not on. When one of the female officers came to check on them, Gonzalez begged her for air. She turned on the air, but it was not cold. For the next 15–20 minutes, you can see Kody in visible distress. I have looked over every minute of this footage. And I cried. I haven’t cried watching bodycam footage in a long time. This made me cry. And if anyone wants the file, I’ll happily provide it. Then, approximately 30 minutes after being placed in the back of the hot police vehicle, another male officer finally comes to speak to Gonzalez. This is the footage I’m showing here. 👇 He listens as Gonzalez pleads with him over and over again while he stands there and doesn’t budge to help. In additional footage, you can see Gonzalez, with his clearly distressed dog, attempt to head toward a nearby house to get water. He is stopped by the officer so they can read off his citations. All while there appears to be no urgency for Kody. They then offered to drive Gonzalez several minutes to a nearby convenience store - not an emergency vet. And in this footage, they REDACTED anything said about the emergency involving Kody, but the sound came back in when they were discussing Gonzalez’s citations. I will share another video in the thread with more context regarding this. Unfortunately, Kody later passed away in Collazo Gonzalez’s arms. Gonzalez has retained an attorney and has actively tried to raise awareness about what happened to Kody. RIP, baby. 💔
