Jan Valta and Adam Sporka created incredible music for KCD2 video game, and there's one detail in particular I've been wanting to share for a year now, given how amazing the music is in narrative sound design. I recognized the Hussite song in certain locations, specifically those resisting Sigismund's rule: Semine, Suchdol, and Raborsch, each with a different instrument but the same theme. When I first played KCD2 and heard this music in Semine, I immediately recognized it, being a fan of Czech history. I already suspected that the lord of Semine was plotting against Lord Otto von Bergow. This theme behind the music, the Hussite song, echoes the events 20 years later with the Hussite Wars, a religious war and crusade waged in Bohemia by King Sigismund of Luxembourg. My opinion is that the difference in instruments in these pieces of music with the same theme is to distinguish the settings. Semine is in the Bohemian paradise with more choral music, Raborsch is an isolated estate with agriculture with solo guitar music, and finally Suchdol is an impressive fortress with a military aspect to the music. I just did the montage with the musics of these locations :

This film had a lot of potential with the outfit designs and how the film starts, but after that it turns into an exposition dump on the lead recovering and talking about the good times. It isn't until the one-hour mark, we get a grand fight but is not in the caliber of this scene in terms of editing but is okay with an old school vibe to it due to the forearm weapons the villain is wearing. Currently streaming on iQIYI.

It's another "Sit on I-395N Day". Of course, that can be any day. But it's particularly bad on weekend days when the cherry blossoms are at peak. It's a joyous time when we honor this gift from the mayor of Tokyo more than a century ago by sitting in our automobiles for three hours to go three miles only to realize there are no parking spaces when we finally get into DC. So far, no one has abandoned their cars on the outbound 14th Street Bridge (as in previous years). And it's like this at all of the close-in Potomac River crossings and in Downtown DC. But there are fireworks at the Wharf tonight and at the Kennedy Center. So enjoy!

Graphics, sound effects, music, and gameplay - the perfect mix. Another one of those arcades that you'd recognize instantly by its sound effects when walking into an arcade mall back in the day. Kim Köbke holds the record of 70,736,950 points set during a game of 62 hours and 23 minutes in 2019. I don't even know how that's humanly possible...

Let me introduce Altered Beast, one of Sega’s classic arcade games. If you’re in your 40s and spent any time in arcades, you’ve probably seen it at least once—more likely many times. When you defeat the white wolf, it drops an orb. When you collect it, you hear the famous “Power up!” voice and the main character starts becoming more muscular. After the third power-up, he finally transforms into a beast, gaining incredible strength. That transformation is really the core of the game. Another fun part is that each stage lets you transform into different beasts like a werewolf, dragon, tiger, or bear. I had a lot of fun playing it in arcades back then. Later it was ported to the Mega Drive and also to the Famicom. But the Famicom version was a bit disappointing compared to what I expected. The transformation animation is one of the highlights of the game, but it’s missing there, so it doesn’t quite capture the same impact as the arcade version.
