Speculation that the Holiday Inn Express hotel in Rhoose will be used to house Afghans is deeply concerning. I've been contacted by several constituents about this, who are understandably and legitimately concerned. There have also been several reports on social media. As an elected member representing the area, authorities have told me nothing about this. To the best of my knowledge, there has been no public statement issued by the Ministry of Defence. This is unacceptable. Speculation has been ongoing for several days, and an information vacuum has inevitably developed. I therefore wanted to take the opportunity to explain the actions I have undertaken to address this. I have written to the MOD asking them to clarify the situation urgently. To clarify my position, if speculation is correct, I would strongly and categorically oppose the hotel being used for suggested purpose. It is not suitable to provide accomodation of this nature. The hotel was built to provide accomodation for airport passengers. As a result, the vast majority of guests would, in practice, stay at the hotel for a maximum of one night, either before or after their flight. As such, they would not access local NHS services, schools or other public services. This would not be the case if the hotel is used in the manner suggested. By contrast, it would put huge pressure on local amenities and other public services. It is also situated close to a new college that is set to open. If the reports are true, then the plans would have been developed without any consultation with residents. This too would be unacceptable. They should be afforded the opportunity to provide feedback, have their say and raise any concerns they may have. When I receive further updates, I will update residents accordingly. Be assured I will always put the local community first.

This UK man is an absolute legend “I don't think in my country, believe me, every inch of this land is mine. My ancestors have lived here for over a thousand years. I don't believe in bending anything to newcomers. You've chosen to live in my country, you live by our ways. We have the right to intellectually criticize one another's faiths. As a Christian, I'm not intimidated by that. We've already gone through hundreds of years of doing this to ourselves. Christianity can stand up to it. Islam, by contrast, is pretty new to the world of getting criticized intellectually. It is absolutely right to criticize Muhammad, his conduct, his words, his right to criticize the Quran. And if you don't like that, go and live somewhere else. We will be better off without you in this country. I want a country that will destroy anyone who does not accept the terms that I offered. Any Islamist who tries to impose Sharia law, any Islamist who thinks that we're going to use violence because you criticized our Prophet or you criticized our book. I want a country that will destroy their lives. Take away their kids, chuck them in prison, stop them having jobs, move them out of the country. I do not want to tolerate any Muslim living in this country that does not accept the Christian heritage of this land and what comes with that. If you are willing to accept the Christian heritage of the nation, then there's a place for you. It's not just get rid of Muslims because they're Muslims. I don't give a sh*t about islamists. I think we need to ruin their lives. And anyone who even slightly hints at an islamist ideology should be dealt with mercilessly, ruthlessly. All right, are we clear about the term?”

NANS DISTANCES ITSELF FROM SOWORE AND ASSOCIATES' OCTOBER 20TH PLANNED PROTEST The body of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NAN, has dissociated itself from what it calls "false claims that NANS is planning to organize or participate in a so-called “#FreeNnamdiKanu." In a statement by NANS' President Olushola Oladoja warns parents and guardians to Caution their Children and wards Against Being Used by Selfish Politicians. It adds, "We wish to state categorically and unequivocally that NANS is not, and will not be, part of any protest organized or influenced by Omoyele Sowore or any other politically motivated group or individual. The entire claim is false, mischievous, and designed to drag the name of our noble Association into political controversies that do not align with our mandate as a student body. We understand that the matter concerning Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is a legal issue currently before a competent court of law, and it would therefore be inappropriate, unlawful, and irresponsible for NANS to take a partisan position or mobilize any form of protest on a matter before the judiciary. Whatever Mr. Sowore and his group are planning or doing is for their own political interest and has absolutely nothing to do with NANS. We advise him and his co-travelers to stop using the name of NANS to give credibility to their politically driven agenda. Our focus as a responsible students’ organization remains on education, youth development, peace, and national unity Not partisian agitation. We therefore call on parents and guardians across the country to warn their children and wards not to be deceived or lured into joining any protest sponsored by self-serving politicians who do not mean well for the nation or the student community." It warns that those individuals would want to exploit the vulnerability of the youth for personal gain while abandoning them when crises erupt. "We also urge the general public, the media, and security agencies to disregard any publication or message claiming that NANS is mobilizing for a protest related to Nnamdi Kanu or any other politically motivated cause. Our focus is on constructive engagements, peaceful advocacy, and developmental initiatives that will contribute meaningfully to the progress of our education system and the future of Nigerian youth. We will continue to champion the interests of students through dialogue, advocacy, and collaboration with relevant stakeholders not through chaos or politically induced protests." It concludes.
