I attended a Crane Lorry fire a fair few years ago on the M40 and one of the tyres exploded. It ended up on the hard shoulder of the opposite carriageway. It went 8 lanes and the central reservation.

nothing a 2L foam extinguisher couldn't put out.. ;)
