real craftsmanship requires real money. That house takes > 3x the labor of the standard cheap box house and >2x materials. If you think there's a housing crisis now, wait until this plan rolls forward. Character is nice, but nobody can afford it in the technological society.

The fancy buildings have always been funded by wealth. Wood, stone, brick houses were the cheapest way for regular people to build. Now, it’s vinyl siding, laminate, drywall, PEX. We’re living in the ruins of wealth for the most part.
