Another incident occurred on a controlled-access Yamuna expressway when a driver who missed the exit shifted into reverse and suffered the consequences. Was it worth it ? Nitin Gadkari ji, an education campaign on expressway do’s and don’ts is clearly needed.

@nitin_gadkari The driver is definitely at fault, but many a times, even our highways have such vague signages.. many a times, the board will be hardly 500 mts before the turn. And sometimes, bang at the turn😀 We need to look into that too.

@nitin_gadkari It’s purely the car’s fault. The driver reversed right between the leftmost and middle lane. The core system needs to change. When I got my license, I drove on a track. In the US, the tester actually rode with me in the city, watched my errors, and only passed me when I am ready.

@nitin_gadkari Seriously brother we need to fix this. Take the next exit guys if you missed one even for 10 meters. Just go ahead and take the next exit. It is highway and you are driving in night.

You can control the access but not the uncivilised mindset. Hope this is a lesson learnt for good.

@nitin_gadkari No that will not fix the issue. When you prepare for driving test you study about do's and dont's. But Agents can get you a driving license without you studying for and giving the driving tests. Most drivers don't know basics. We need a corruption free RTO.

@nitin_gadkari Bhai the way biker handled the whole situation is top tier. Saved himself, assured the truck driver it wasn't his fault, asked the car occupants not to panic, asked if anyone was injured, started calling ambulance, asked them to get off the road. Pure class

@nitin_gadkari That’s why an Indian driving licence is not valid in many Middle Eastern or European countries. Even after an accident caused by dangerous or improper driving the licence often remains active with no action taken by the RTO or police, as the matter is frequently settled amicably.

Fault of the car driver. These days in almost all the express ways/ hiways there are clear exit signs. She has not seen her exit road . Trying to reverse on such speedways is not sensible Once she is hit instead of yelling she should have switched ON the hazard lights Poor truckwala

@nitin_gadkari Strict Enforcement & penalties are the only solution. But most important is that Driving License needs to be earned....its been distributed as of now.

Ppl don’t learn from incidents? Few days back similar accident happened on Jaipur Dehli Express way where a Scorpio hit the reversing vehicle. 4 ppl killed instantly. This man in dead of night committed same mistake. The basic reason is driving license is issued in India easily through brokers. No test required!

@nitin_gadkari 99% indian drives are street drivers with zero training of highways forget expressways. Netas love doing ribbon cutting of half baked mobility projects. Zero efforts on having a holistic awareness and training of masses. Then Govt accepts dead bodies as "human" error.

@nitin_gadkari Did anyone put Hazard lights on. Night time, Car stopped on road after accident. Likely another accident awaiting. Most dangerous place to be out on road for them and other road users!!

@nitin_gadkari @nitin_gadkari first needs to educate babus doing DPR and issuing NOCs. Sign boards (multiple after few hundred meters) needs to be installed from at least 1km or 500mtr from actual exit. Not exactly at the exit.

@nitin_gadkari They would have joined the Yamuna expressway within 5 minutes if they had continued straight. The driver was not even capable of reversing in straight line. 😏😡 Car would have been right at the center of Middle lane, by the time it reach the exit.

@nitin_gadkari There are not enough sign posts indicators in respect of Exit, Turning or Village etc. The sign posts should be able to forewarn the commuters with approximate distance etc. Lighting on these sign posts are ZERO hence these problems

@nitin_gadkari Absolutly correct. Actually the while system to check drivers ability before giving driving license should be reformed. People get license even without an exam, the do not know traffic rules, road marking rules, light rules, but they are given License.
