China has a further 484 GW of new coal capacity under construction or in development. This is in complete contrast to Australia’s position, where we have zero new coal plants under development, and “Blackout Bowen” is planning to close down the ones we have (21GW) and replace them with intermittent renewables. So China is going for more coal — and it’s all addition, with no transition — while Australia is all about attempted replacement. There’s a huge fundamental difference between the two positions. If Bowen doesn’t understand the difference, he should resign.Alternatively, if he does understand the difference and is gaslighting the Australian public to act as a useful idiot for China, he should likewise resign.
