#ISPR Rawalpindi, 24 July 2025 The launching ceremony of the locally-built PNS Sahiwal Gun Boat for the #Pakistan Navy was held at Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW). Vice Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Owais Ahmed Bilgrami, graced the occasion as the chief guest. The chief guest lauded the joint efforts of the Pakistan Navy’s Platform Design Wing (PDW) and Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW) for successfully developing the vessel indigenously. The locally-produced gun boat will be equipped with long-range semi-automatic guns and is capable of undertaking a wide range of modern maritime security operations. The Pakistan Navy is also considering the production of additional gun boats of this class in the future. Senior officials from the Pakistan Navy, the Ministry of Defence Production, Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works, and representatives from the shipbuilding industry attended the launching ceremony.

PAKISTAN NAVY AND PAKISTAN MARITIME SECURITY AGENCY UNDERTAKE MEDICAL EVACUATION OF AN INDIAN SEAFARER The Joint Maritime Information and Coordination Centre (JMICC) of Pakistan Navy received a distress call from the Liberian-flagged oil/chemical tanker, MT HIGH LEADER, with all Indian crew onboard, requesting medical evacuation for one of its injured crew members. JMICC immediately activated its established maritime coordination protocols to ensure a rapid and effective response. Consequently, Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) promptly evacuated the injured seafarer from MT HIGH LEADER and transferred him to a local hospital in Karachi for emergency medical care. The successful medical evacuation is yet another testament to the operational readiness and responsiveness of Pakistan’s maritime safety apparatus. The coordination and swift execution reflect Pakistan Navy’s resolve to fulfill its international obligations for the safety of life at sea, irrespective of the nationality of the seafarers involved. PN JMICC is the principal node for generating a coordinated response to any maritime incident by involving a wide range of stakeholders.
