In the Belvedere/Marin area, call WildCare’s 24/7 wildlife hotline: 415-456-7283. Drop-offs at their Interim Hospital: 37 Schmidt Lane, San Rafael, CA 94901 (9AM-5PM daily). #WildCare #BirdRescue

I would pick that sweet baby up then I would love him and pet him and squeeze him.

That's a fledgling. They're leaving the nest about this time of year and it's perfectly normal to find them on the ground. Move it under the bushes and out of the road; the parents are probably nearby. Were it naked, that would be a different story. Then you'd want to find the nest if possible and put it back. No, birds will not abandon a nest if they "smell" that people have been near it. That's a thing we tell kids so they'll leave nesting birds alone.

Put him in a box, take him home for the night, keep him safe from your dog, then call the closest wildlife center to pick it up. I've done this many times and I've never lost a bird when I followed up with the center.

Find your local wildlife rehabilitation center and let them know ASAP.

Get him off the path or roadway. Then go on with your run. Doing anything more usually causes more harm than good.

I was in this position several years ago. I set all 3 to the side & fed them everyday. Then one day they all flew off, one by one. I got to see them all fly away. It was glorious 🥰

While I am unable to provide any input on your conundrum, I would like to request that the settings of whatever app you used to prepare your video for posting on X be reviewed. Those of us who aren't exclusively on phones end up with this experience thanks to it, inexplicably, baking in black bars to force a vertical viewing experience. In the meantime, have an extraordinarily good day.

Just get it out of the path, coyotes will smell it at some point. Mother nature can be a hard.

There's really one answer, you found him and now he's your responsibility. You can take care of him yourself or find someone else to relieve you of this obligation. Don't you know a nice lady with a little time on her hands? If you do she'd likely do what she could.

It's a dirty job but you're going to do it.

As someone who does wildlife rehab in michigan, that is not a grounded nestling who lost his parents. That is a sick little bird that needs a wildlife rehabber. Asap. Do not feed or give water by mouth. Keep warm and quiet. Contact a wildlife rehabber.

You don’t want my advice. We are currently nursing back to health an Eurasian dove I rescued from a hawk attack. He’s healing well & will be released soon as long as I keep our cats & dogs away, lol.

I would try to identify what species of birdie is and see if he’s unusual or rare and try to find a rehab center for birds that can take him in until he’s old enough to take care of himself.

I know what I'd do, cause I've done it. Take it home. Google how to care for it. And keep him locked up away from other pets. I also have 11 years as a veterinary tech as experience to help me.

Had a similar dilemma when our dog injured a grackle in our yard, but we put him out in the field with some other ones and they seem to be taking care of him. Social birds really have a massive advantage in nature.

Just move it to the dirt by the curb... the part not on the street. The parent knows exactly where it is but getting it out of the path of a cyclist or vehicle is kind

Put it on the ground near the bush. The mother is likely nearby watching or gathering food. It will be ok.

Pick it up with gloves, put it in the bush, move away, and watch. The mother will likely come and take care of it. We had this situation in the winter with a cardinal. It was in the snow and my daughter moved it to a nearby grassy area - mom arrived minutes later.

I’d put him up as high as I could in a stable part of a tree. Lil buddy needs a pinch of an assist.

I come across many of these birds (birds that fall out of the nest), take it to the nearest vet and they should be able to get a rescue to come and get the bird. I've done this with injured turtles, birds (baby and adult) and squirrels.

Put it in a shoe box and drive it to the nearest ASPCA, humane society, or local animal authority.

Well, in my case I’d have to relocate the bird because “Sylvester” (name changed to protect the innocent) would love to play with little “Tweety” 🐈‍⬛🐤😳🪶🪶

Just put him in the bushes and get him off the path. Best you can do.
