Agreed 100%. This is what I do. In fact, my painted pieces have fewer layers than my cell-shaded ones. I make a lot of mistakes/adjustments throughout the process. It's easier when you remove the guesswork on which layer needs fixing.

Do you know what song we’ve been sleeping on as a fandom?? Stay Alive. The vocals. The arrangement. The song itself provides so much depth to the emotions of its listener. The song encompasses the mix of Yoongi’s golden touch and Jungkook’s immaculate vocals phenomenally. I was just driving and the song came on and I suddenly was overcome with layers and layers and layers of emotions; all solely evoked by the song alone. It’s a fxcking masterpiece, man. I can’t. It feels like I’m hearing it for the first time. Which of course I’m not bc it’s one of my heavily rotated songs in my playlists. The song is so good 😮‍💨 so so good god damn.

Not sure how helpful this will be, but this is how I separated the nose! Skin layer shaped as the nose, and the lines clipped into it. The nose layers should be above the eyes to cover them when the head rotates :3

These are underfill layers! They are a solid color layer underneath another color layer, but they are slightly bigger, making it look like the outline of the layer above. This method will make it easier for riggers to give the model more range, as the underfill is easy to adjust
