Another Robotaxi Supervisor Intervention: Hate to put these videos out but after being dropped off at SFO airport on my ride that had an intervention at the end, the driver leaving took over as well to leave departures drop off .

Humans just have no patience. But here's an honest comment. You ever notice when you drop somebody off and just sit there for a little while usually a Cop will come up and make you move, right!. Had the safety driver not been in this vehicle It would've had to wait for the car behind to move and I presume then made its way out of there. I think the supervisors experience as a human mentally forced him to take action, but technically, I don't think it was necessary.

FSD definitely does not like ultra tight spots. It will rarely get out of a spot in NYC for me if the cars are too close. Just goes into reverse and sits

Honestly, if there wasn't a person in there, it probably would have been fine if it just waited until the car behind it left and then it could get itself out. It's good to have data on these scenarios for Tesla to make it better though!

Airports are some of the worst places for autonomous vehicles. Even for people. I feel like these will need a designated airport drop off and pick off areas.

I took Robotaxi and was getting dropped off at the welcome center at the Golden Gate Bridge and my supervisor disengaged to pull over in the drop off zone instead of letting the vehicle do it own thing and park up ahead. I assume the supervisor was afraid it would miss a chance for a spot to pull over and instead proactively did it early. Kinda sucks, Robotaxi would’ve handled it fine.

I’ve noticed that every Robotaxi driver who has picked me up in the Bay Area was manually driving when they pulled up. I wonder if manual driving between customers is more prevalent than we might think.

Wait, the car was tight from behind and the barrier was in front so maybe that's what gave it pause?

My car has done this when activating FSD in a parallel parked space. Usually requires a tap of the accelerator. We can’t have this kind of thing happen in a Cybercab.

Had this myself a couple times too. Seems like it is currently using a too large “safe zone”.

As long as the software doesn't do this, i'm fine with an intervention

Decrease the bump clearance in setting

FSD isn't perfect but it is insanely good now

I can imagine in many of these interventions the car would figure it out on its own, the human inside just got impatient.

why didnt they just hire a remote operator to click the acceleration pedal button would have taken 1 second

@JCChristopher The closer we get to unsupervised, the further away it seems from achievability.

Keep training! We still have humans killing each other Daily in auto accidents from not " intervening or paying attention". No matter how negative this must look because we want perfection, the software is still safer than a human

Don't worry. I think we all expect these interventions. These are easy to fix anyways.

This is why my FSD useage is only ~55% and I drive a lot on the highway and in traffic. I love the people who say he was impatient. I had an incident a week ago where the car would NOT merge at all onto an old busy parkway entrance in the Bronx.
