Funny thing, when I lived in #Japan I met a lot of US Americans who were afraid of #NYC although they had never been there (mostly guys from the bible belt). I went there every year for my birthday and two to three times a year for work and loved every minute, was never scared.

Yeah crazy, they were horrified when I told them that I will go to NYC for the Halloween Parade (my birthday). Only good memories! Never had anything stolen, being attacked or whatsoever. Even took the subway in the late 80´s with a friend in the middle of the night and felt safe
