Another tragedy. Same pattern. Zero accountability. The Jabalpur boat disaster isn’t an “accident”, it’s a system failure. 1) No life jackets at boarding: passengers reportedly got them only when the boat was already sinking 2) Weather warnings ignored despite strong winds and visible risk 3) Crew negligence: survivors allege...

At least nine people have died after a cruise boat operated by the Madhya Pradesh tourism department capsized in Bargi Dam on the Narmada river near Jabalpur on Thursday evening. Officials said the vessel, carrying around 43 passengers including crew members, overturned after being caught in a sudden and severe storm. The weather changed abruptly around 6pm, with wind speeds reported between 60–70 kmph, creating turbulent conditions in the dam. Authorities said the high-velocity winds likely destabilised the boat, causing it to lose control and capsize. Search and rescue operations continued late into Thursday night with teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), state disaster units and local administration deployed at the site. The death toll rose to nine after additional bodies were recovered on Friday. Several survivors have alleged lapses in safety measures, claiming life jackets were distributed only after the vessel began sinking. “There were no visible safety measures during the journey. Panic broke out when the cruise started sinking, and only then were life jackets handed out,” said one survivor, Julius, who lost his wife in the incident. His daughter and grandson are still missing. Another eyewitness, Samrat, said strong winds were already visible before the capsize. “We told the boat operator to turn back, but he did not listen. The boat capsized mid-dam. We managed to rescue around 15–16 people,” he said. Officials said a detailed investigation will examine whether safety protocols were followed, including the timing of life jacket distribution and the decision to continue operations despite deteriorating weather conditions. Bargi Dam, one of the earliest major hydroelectric and irrigation projects on the Narmada, is a popular tourist site located around 40 km from Jabalpur.

“Taxpayers Pay, Passengers Pray: Shocking State of Karnataka Government Buses” The condition of this North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation bus is deeply alarming and raises serious questions about passenger safety. Just by observing the bus from behind, it is clearly visible that the vehicle is moving in a zigzag manner. The bus body appears to be drifting in one direction, while the tyres seem to be moving in another. This is not a minor technical flaw it is a danger waiting to turn into a tragedy. Is this how public transport is supposed to function in Karnataka? Are passengers’ lives so cheap that such visibly unsafe vehicles are allowed to operate on public roads? One sudden brake, one sharp turn, or one pothole could result in a major accident. Hundreds of daily commuters students, workers, senior citizens are unknowingly being put at risk. How can transport officials ignore such an obvious safety hazard? Is there no routine inspection, no accountability, and no responsibility towards citizens? Or has human life become secondary to negligence, corruption, and poor governance? Citizens of Karnataka pay taxes expecting safe infrastructure and quality public services, not buses that look like they could collapse or overturn at any moment. If taxpayers’ money cannot ensure basic roadworthiness of government buses, then where exactly is that money going? This reflects a larger failure of the Government of Karnataka, particularly the transport administration under Ramalinga Reddy Grand announcements and slogans mean nothing if ground reality is this dangerous and irresponsible. Public transport is not a luxury it is a lifeline. Allowing such buses on roads is not just incompetence; it is criminal negligence. The government must stop treating safety audits as paperwork formalities and take immediate corrective action. Before another accident headline shocks the state, the authorities must answer one simple question: Are Karnataka citizens’ lives worth less than convenience and cost-cutting? Strict action, immediate inspection, and accountability are not optional they are long overdue. Karnataka State Police S. Two scooter riders were recklessly performing a wheelie on a busy Bengaluru road, putting not only their own lives in danger but also risking a major accident for everyone around them. Shockingly, their friends on another scooter were busy recording the stunt instead of stopping them. None of them were wearing helmets, openly violating traffic rules and showing zero regard for their own safety or the safety of innocent commuters.Such irresponsible behaviour from these youths is not bravery it is pure stupidity. Roads are not stunt grounds, and reckless acts like these can destroy lives in a matter of seconds. One wrong move, one skid, or one unexpected vehicle collision is enough to turn this so-called “fun” into a tragedy. Every day, countless families lose their loved ones because of accidents caused by negligence and oversmartness. It is deeply disappointing to see young riders prioritising viral videos and cheap thrills over basic safety. Instead of contributing positively to society, they choose to endanger the public and themselves. Bengaluru’s traffic is already chaotic, and stunts like these only add to the danger.Authorities must take strict action against such behaviour, and parents must guide their children better. Life is precious no stunt, no video, no two minutes of social media fame is worth risking it #bangalore #bengaluru #wheelie #bommanahalli Karnataka State Police S. 🚨 Serious Security Concern at Roswell Women’s and Children’s Hospital ‼️ Roswell Women and Children's Hospital I am extremely disappointed & concerned about a recent incident involving my vulnerable patient under care at Roswell Hospital. The patient (in orange left her sickbed to go for a short call) and then: An unidentified individual was able to: * Enter the hospital without proper registration * Bypass security and reception protocols * Access a private patient ward without authorization * Steal a patient's personal property (iPhone 16 Pro Max) This raises serious questions about patient safety and security procedures within the facility. Hospitals are meant to be safe environments, especially for patients who are already in a vulnerable condition. The most troubling part is the lack of response and assistance from the hospital following the incident. No meaningful support, accountability, or clear explanation has been provided so far. 1. How is it possible for an unregistered individual to freely access patient areas? 2. What security measures are actually in place to protect patients and their belongings? 3. Why has there been no proactive effort to resolve or even properly address this incident? This situation reflects a concerning lapse in basic security protocols and patient protection standards. I urge Roswell Hospital to: • Review and strengthen visitor access controls • Provide transparency about what went wrong • Take responsibility and support the affected patient Patients and their families deserve safety, accountability, and respect-not silence. #PatientSafety #HospitalSecurity #Negligence #Accountability #HealthcareStandards

Emergency Call for Action on the Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway: Gross Negligence Must End We are once again confronted with a painful and avoidable tragedy on the Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway in Kaduna. The latest incident, which occurred at Kamlik Filling Station, claimed the lives of two innocent Nigerians after a heavy-duty truck carrying a container fell onto a commercial tricycle (keke napep). What is even more disturbing is not just the accident itself, but the disgraceful response that followed. For 8 to 10 hours, the scene was left unattended with no crane, no urgent intervention, no sense of responsibility. Lives were lost, and yet the system remained slow, silent, and indifferent. Allah says in the Qur’an: “Whoever kills a soul… it is as if he had slain mankind entirely; and whoever saves one – it is as if he had saved mankind entirely.” (Qur’an 5:32) What we are witnessing is not just negligence, it is a collective failure to protect life, which Islam holds as sacred above all. This is not an accident, it is a failure of leadership and accountability. The level of recklessness on that expressway both from drivers and, more importantly from the authorities responsible for regulating and maintaining the road has reached an unacceptable level. Human life has been reduced to mere numbers. We have repeatedly raised alarms, called for action, and demanded safety measures, yet those in power have chosen silence and inaction. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Each of you is a shepherd, and each of you is responsible for his flock.” (Sahih al-Bukhari & Muslim) Those in authority will answer not just to the public but before Allah for every life lost under their watch due to negligence. Let it be clearly stated: The continued delay in completing this road project, coupled with the absence of emergency response infrastructure, is a direct threat to public safety. The authorities and contractors handling this project have consistently failed in their duty, and the Kaduna State Government must no longer remain passive. We demand immediate and decisive action such as: - Deploy proper emergency response systems along the expressway, including cranes and rapid rescue teams. - Enforce strict regulations on heavy-duty vehicles operating on this route. - Fast-track the completion of the road project without further excuses. - Hold all negligent parties accountable. The Prophet ﷺ also said: “There should be neither harm nor reciprocating harm.” (Ibn Majah) What is happening on this expressway is continuous harm, and allowing it to persist is injustice. Enough is enough. We will not continue to normalize death caused by preventable negligence. Every life lost on that road is a stain on the conscience of those entrusted with leadership. Act now or be held responsible, in this world and the Hereafter, for every life that is lost going forward. May Allah grant the deceased Jannatul Firdaus and give their families the strength to bear this loss. Ameen. Cc Senator Uba Sani Sen Lawal Adamu Usman MR LA Rayyan Hussein Kaduna State Roads Agency

One of the most common mistakes made by many Indian parents is allowing their children to sit in the front seat of a car. While it may seem harmless or even fun for the child, this practice is extremely dangerous. In the event of an unfortunate accident, the child is at a much higher risk of serious injury or even death compared to an adult passenger. Airbags, for example, are designed to protect adults, not children. When they deploy, they open with immense force, which can cause severe head, neck, or chest injuries to a child sitting in the front seat. Similarly, the lack of proper restraints in the front makes the child more vulnerable to being thrown forward during a crash. For this reason, child safety seats are not just a recommendation they are a necessity. Child car seats are specifically designed to protect young passengers by securing them properly, distributing crash forces evenly, and reducing the chances of fatal injuries. Around the world, strict laws make the use of child restraint systems mandatory, and India too must adopt stronger awareness and enforcement in this regard. Indian parents must shift their mindset from convenience to safety. Placing a child in a proper child seat at the back of the car is not only safer but could be life-saving. The cost of a child seat is minimal compared to the priceless value of a child’s life. Road safety begins at home, and parents play the most important role in ensuring it. #driveresponsibly

We have been receiving numerous complaints about accidents that frequently occur on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays around major roundabouts in the city, especially along Uhuru Highway. A disturbing pattern has emerged. Many victims report that immediately after accidents, they are robbed by individuals who claim to be first responders. At the same time, several tow trucks and recovery vehicles are often stationed around these roundabouts. In some locations, you will find three or four tow trucks waiting nearby even before any accident occurs. This raises serious concerns and questions: Who is stealing from the victims? Why are these tow trucks always positioned at these specific spots? Are some of these individuals taking advantage of accident victims under the guise of offering help? This situation calls for urgent investigation by security agencies and traffic authorities to establish whether there is any organized criminal activity targeting motorists at accident scenes. I also urge all drivers to avoid driving under the influence of alcohol, remain cautious, and strictly observe road safety rules to reduce accidents. To KeNHA, KURA, and all relevant agencies, more needs to be done to improve safety around these roundabouts including better lighting, signage, surveillance, traffic control, and proper guidance for new drivers. Road safety must go hand in hand with public security. No victim of an accident should suffer further loss through theft or exploitation.
