"As we all observed, this is the first time that she ever commented, and that very comment again just reinforced our perception or impression of her as also aiding China. Another traitor just like the father," de Lima stated on Tuesday.

Duterte said on Sunday that the territorial concerns regarding the West Philippine Sea do not make up the country's entire relation with China. She also emphasized holding a neutral position and not relying on the United States.

"You're supposed to be the second highest official of the land, you're not supposed to be airing opinions or blurting out statements that would undermine the Philippines' core interests in the West Philippine Sea," de Lima emphasized.

Furthermore, De Lima also supported the current administration's decision to rely on traditional allies.
