Nitrous Oxide on the Streets of Downtown Los Angeles I bet you thought this was about another street takeover, huh? A guy on nitrous oxide inhales in downtown Los Angeles passes out then wakes up and goes right back at it. This is daily life in Los Angeles now. Drug addicts, rampant crime, and total lawlessness. Great job Mayor Karen Bass.

After nearly 9 inches of rainfall, the Ohio River has reached 35 feet in Downtown Louisville. It is projected to crest Downtown on Wednesday at 37 feet. This is officially one of the Top 10 flooding events in Louisville history. Please use caution when traveling, especially if it is along the Ohio River and be alert of road closures in your area.

We appreciate Alderwoman Monique Scott's wisdom here. During debate over the snap curfew yesterday, Ms. Scott explained she has forbidden her college-bound daughter from travelling downtown. Why? Well, Ms. Scott is exercising impeccable parental instinct: The 24th Ward alderman understands downtown isn't safe and her daughter would be at risk. Scott would prefer her daughter visit Oakbrook Center rather than downtown. This says a great deal about how Scott views the conditions on Chicago's streets. Ms. Scott is also to be commended for clearly articulating how the "snap curfew" doesn't confer on CPD the authority to randomly administer drubbings on teens. Instead, Ms. Scott recognizes the snap curfew is an instrument CPD can harness to avert teen takeovers, which are known to become violent. Ms. Scott understands CPD with the authority to call a snap curfew to force kids to disperse means fewer or no arrests. Well done, Ms. Scott.
