No it's not. You can go get a job there. You can go as a tourist. Antarctica is an open book.

Note the keyword: "should" and also notice no mention of permits other than: "It is prohibited to take or harmfully interfere with Antarctica wildlife except in accordance with a permit issued by a national authority."

The US, Russia and pretty much all other countries have agreed on the Antarctic treaty for decades. Interesting how they find common ground to protect the penguins for so long but threaten to nuke each other in the northern hemisphere. Isn’t that odd? (Genuinely asking)
