Interesting irony here: Buffalo Springfield's 'For What It's Worth' was a anthem for youth against the establishment in the '60s. Now, 60 years later, the very generation they sang about has become the establishment they once critiqued.

Buffalo Springfield's great song in 1967, still great song in 2025. Difference then cops went after anti vietnam hippie agitators (today's boomers). And today the woke, antifa & anarchists go after the cops..

I sometimes think these classics should be re-released so the kids of today could enjoy them, I smile when someone brings out a cover version of an old record and my kids think it's new, but I can sing all the words, the looks on their faces 😆

This song was written after 4 students at Kent State were shot and killed by Ohio National Guardsmen in 1970. 55 years later, protests are not the same.

A new anthem for today. Yup. We’re right there now. “…Paranoia strikes deep Into your life it will creep It starts when you're always afraid Step out of line, the man come and take you away..”

Don't forget, Neil Young pulled all of his music off of streaming services because he said Joe Rogan was lying about COVID lol. 🤡

The song was about stopping war, not about over privileged kids who have never experienced anything pretending to be outraged. Stop being wannabe revolutionaries it’s lame and embarrassing and looks bad to those who actually lived through the war and saw outrage.

That was such a long time ago and yet it was yesterday. Time sure can be cruel.

I rate "For What It's Worth" as the 3rd best protest and social justice anthem of the 60s and 70s.

"For What It's Worth" was written by Stephen Stills in November 1966. It was first recorded by Buffalo Springfield on December 5, 1966 and released as a single in December 1966. “Ohio” was written by Neil Young and played by CSNY after the Kent state protest in 1970. Nixon sent the national guard. One guard fired, either scared or defying orders. The rest is history, “4 dead in Ohio”.

Love this song, long before today’s times. Now it is just as relevant as back then. How sad this is the case.

I jammed for about an hour with Stephen Stills back in 98’. We both were playing Parker Fly guitars and he was blown away by how great the guitar played! He was really cool and down to earth! Ken Parker who created the Parker Fly died earlier this week! RIP Ken Parker 🕊️

We always thought this song was about Viet Nam. Turns out it was about a struggle between youth who roamed the Sunset Strip at night versus merchants who said it was hurting their business and called the cops.

Yes it does stand the test of time. Did you know that Stephen tried out for the Peter Tork part in the Monkees? Stephen says it was a pathway for his music. The producers declined because his teeth were a mess and he then suggested his friend Peter Torkelson for the roll.

There still works today. This is a rare song where the title words appear nowhere in the lyrics at all.
