My cousins and my brother and I were exploring Coney Island, we saw the sights, hung out at the arcades and before we went back to the apartment we decided to go and get something to eat, we had some money on us but not much so we decided to see what we could get at one of the vendors. This was back in the early 90’s when most of them had dollar slices of pizza wherever we went. So we got 4 pieces of pizza, should have been $4 because that’s the price we were used to. The guy wanted to charge us $24 at $6 a slice. We argues with him because one of my cousins already took a bite being so hungry. But at the least we owed $4. We gave the other slices back and refused them but had to pay for the partially eaten one, it was embarrassing that an adult would try that on a bunch of kids. We told our uncle what happened and he went back and yelled at the vendor. He was familiar with them because he used to get slices all the time from the same guy and he never charged my uncle that price. I couldn’t imagine paying that exurban amount, like this guy who was being charged $54 for a hotdog by one of the vendors. At first he thought it was a typo and it was $5.40 but the vendor. Learned it up when he said no it was $54. Would you have paid that amount? I would have walked away, clearly he was trying to possibly scam a the man for looking like a tourist. Part of the experience when visiting a new area is the street food but it’s becoming more and more a chore avoiding places like this.

When I was coaching at Cornell, I worked mainly with the forwards and one of the things I loved to show on video was “Effort Before Offense” plays. A great effort to force a turnover where we could then go in transition. A won battle or race for possession of the puck. Taking a hit to make a play so teammates could get a scoring opportunity. The players loved it and it helped us buy into a relentless identity we wanted to have to pursue pucks…so we could have it more…so we could play more on offense. This would be one of those clips. It’s a great effort from the Caps’ Raddysh to win the shot retrieval battle. He then gets it up to the point, goes to the dirty area of the ice, and gets rewarded with the goal. Winning the shot retrieval battle. Getting to the dirty area. Effort/desire decisions that led to the goal. Great job!!

txt’s big dorm cleaning day 🫧🧼🧹 🧸 yesterday was the big cleaning day that we decided on ourselves 🧸 we were like “when we’re back, it’s about time we clean things up and throw out the piled up things that we don’t use…let’s live in a neat way” it was the day we decided to do that 🧸 so all the members had a big cleaning day yesterday and…we’re actually not done yet 🧸 i thought we’d be done in an hour but even a day wasn’t enough so when i go back to the dorm today, i think i’m going to clean up a bit more 🧸 people are asking if it got a lot cleaner…no. even amidst the mess, we had some rules like the mess was within the limits we’d promised each other and it was actually livable but we turned everything upside down while cleaning so all those rules disappeared…that’s why we need to deep clean for a day or two more for it to be done 🧸 i was cleaning the dorm yesterday like “wow this was here!!! i gave up on finding it after looking for it for a whole day and it’s been here the whole time!!” and there were also things like “wow i wonder how long this has been here…let’s not even go through this…”

So we’ve been giving him crap for a long time that he can’t hit a guy in the flat quickly. And then he did it, and I said that just to piss him off, so he could flip me off, kind of subtly. This guy went to Goodwill and found a clock, so he bought it... I bet he opened it up and saw the contents before buying, so of course it was worth the $6. As he was heading to his car, a couple was persistently trying to purchase it from him for $100. They more than likely were the original owners, trying to get there few hundred bucks back. Would you have done the same thing as this guy? Or made a deal with the other folks?
