Grew up in LA. "Pinche Mayate" was common in opp language. Definitely a slur. Another one is "Chango" which means monkey..I've thrown hands about that one!

Myate ‘ Me-Yah-tay’ (the first word she said) means burnt match head. Kinda like “your black as a burnt match”. It made me crack up because that was the first racial slur I learned when I moved down to Florida 😂

She's only right about cocolo and mayate. Cocolo is used in DR primarily to describe Haitian and non-Dominican black people. Mayate is still used by some Mexicans to describe blacks. I have never heard prieto negatively used anywhere, it just means dark. Mono is also one to know
