At the Second International Conference on Combating Antisemitism in Jerusalem, initiated by Minister עמיחי שיקלי - Amichai Chikli, I made one thing clear: antisemitism is not just a Jewish problem. It is a threat to free societies, to democracy, and to our shared civilization. History teaches us that hatred must be confronted early. When antisemitism is tolerated, it spreads. Lies become violence. Israel’s fight today is not only for our own security, but for the values and freedoms of the free world. To Jews everywhere, especially the younger generation: do not bow your head. Stand tall. Speak the truth. When we fight antisemitism with courage and clarity, we defend not only the Jewish people - we defend humanity itself.

For an individual to belligerently confront me because they believed I was Jewish is shocking and unacceptable. Worse than that, however, was the antisemitic diatribe that followed — blaming Jews for a myriad of issues. In NY-17, I’m proud to represent one of the largest Jewish populations in the United States, and I will always stand up for them and for all of my constituents.

To my pro-Israel and American friends: we must stand firmly against radical extremists such as Muslim Brotherhood aligned terrorists but we must not conflate them with Muslims as a whole. I am an Arab Muslim and a proud friend of the Jewish people and the State of Israel. I want to see more Muslims become friends of Israel and actively work toward reconciling Muslim–Jewish relations. When all Muslims are lumped together with extremists, it only leads to isolation, and that is exactly what extremists want. It is better for humanity that Muslims, Jews, and Christians reconcile, cooperate, and build a thriving, peaceful Middle East together. Do not give extremists what they want. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
