I was at a mall a few years ago, and I saw one of these "Beauty contests" going on with children just like this. There was an unsuprising amount of 𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘮𝘦𝘯 hanging out and taking pictures. Pretty sick shit

This is an abomination because this six year old has lost the natural lack of self-consciousness that we expect from a child. She’s already a phony, as Holden Caulfield would say.

Pageants are a human meat market. This isn't about beauty. They all have heavy makeup, fake teeth, fake hair. There's no beauty - all smoke and mirror tricks, just like Hollywood.

Cheer and dance competitions are just as bad. I had my daughter in cheer for 1 season and that was enough to swear off the practice for life. Highly disturbing and a serious waste of money for about 95% of the participants.
