Why is humiliation part of weddings? This was uncool. Same with smashing brides faces in the cake. Bizarre and unnecessary.

Couple things here. This is pretty raw. You absolutely know the husband that went through this thought about it from every angle. And IS STILL the stand up guy asking if he was in the wrong. I would go to war with this man. All character. Shame on everyone associated with a prank where no one one thought to ask, "hey, maybe this isn't a proper thing to do in private let alone the most public and precious moment of someone's life." And kudos to the group here for letting her read with no interruption. Those dudes absolutely felt the truth of what he was saying with every word. They were reflecting upon every time in life as a man they were told to "just suck it up" and "it's just a joke". Damn. That one hits hard. God bless that man wherever he is today.

Some believe he is over reacting but if this woman he has married didn’t know him well enough to know that his personality type would not deal well with this type of prank then I would say this marriage is doomed.

Perhaps this is a stretch but there are a lot of men out there that were abused by men growing up but are embarrassed to speak up about it…this could have very well been a trigger for the groom. I hope they can work it out and the marriage lasts!

Anyone who loves their partner would never choose to humiliate them. Cake smash, drop in the pool, this garter example. These are not wedding pranks, they are bullying an unsuspecting person and breaking trust. This trend for video likes and social status needs to stop.

I can understand not appreciating being the butt of a joke. Let your feelings be known in the moment and move on. Not being able to put it behind them is indicative of larger problems in the relationship. If you can’t forgive her for a illconcieved prank you probably shouldn’t be married to her.

I would have written several "F-U" letters, annulled the marriage and cut off everyone that was there.

I think the point people miss with this kinda stuff and pranks like this on men in big moments, is that this was HIS special moment too. Not just hers. Imagine celebrating the biggest day of your life and the person you’re sharing it with pulls off a corny prank with you being the laughing stock in front of all your close friends and family. I love a good prank, but there’s definitely a line in the sand on when to pull one off. In the middle of a wedding celebration is not it. He deserves to have the day be special and what he imagined it would be, just as much as she does. I used to DJ weddings and have seen MANY garter removals to the point where I’m excited for my own in the future. If that moment that’s supposed to be with my new wife were to be ruined and left with me being laughed at by 100+ people, I’d be just as livid. He’s a good man for not blowing up right then and there tbh.

Without the deepest level of trust, there is no marriage worth saving & his wife chose to begin their marriage with a humiliating betrayal. He should divorce her immediately, move away from his friends & family, and start over. If he doesn’t, his life will be unending misery.

It's important to understand that people will do things like this to you when you come across as a pushover (while I'm sure he was just trying to be nice and playful.) I guarantee that these people left many clues. He could have saved himself a lot of trouble by being more careful of who he was friends with. Because a proper best man would have prevented this from happening. A good woman wouldn't do this to her husband. Why is his family ok with this? As for what he should have done after it though.. Immediately kick out the guy and make him fear for his life, kick out anyone that he came with, cause damage until he is literally running out of the venue, if he smiles or laughs while leaving then make him deeply regret it, it's very important that he leaves feeling lucky that he's alive (break some teeth if you have to), find out who came up with this 'prank', reprimand your wife and call her vows into question, remove anyone that minimizes the situation. If they persist and they do not take you seriously, I'll just tell you that a night in jail is better than spending another moment with any of them. Your wife should be an advocate for you, and if you don't like what happened then she should be working to help you. Have her collect the phones to delete the videos, have her work tirelessly to apologize. She seriously needs to feel the fear of God. Make her think she married a monster tbh. This is the bare minimum that's needed to 'fix' anything here, and you need to divorce her if she offers even the slightest pushback to any of it. This is the gentle solution I thought of.

This guy’s has a better control of his anger than I do, I would’ve looked at my wife and asked her what the fuck and then I would’ve probably turned around and left. The next day went to the courthouse to get the marriage annulled. A wedding is a time for the wife and husband to make lasting memories that can be revisited by looking at pictures and videos and showing your children. This was not a joke or prank it was a humiliation!
