Consensus seems to be VW , Ford, Chevy, and Jeep had to be started this way. Most of my experience is with Ford and Chevy.

I used to have to pop the clutch on my bug all the time. Do kids even know what I’m saying?! 😂

Supposedly vehicles with standard trans are the least stolen by a wide margin. Evidently the thieves don't know how to drive them, much less a push start!

My daughter called I was at work and she left her dome light on all night her battery was dead. She was a new driven only sixteen. We lived on a hill so I explained how to pop the clutch, she did it all by herself. I was so grateful my Dad said all kids should learn on a clutch.
