Anyone thinking Canada becoming the "51st state" will be a one-way ticket to freedom and prosperity should go visit Anchorage, Alaska.

Obviously everyone's entitled to their opinion and I see benefits on both sides of the issue. I also more than accept that Canada's current govt has presided over a lost decade. However, the worst issues—hyperinflation, addiction, poverty, crime—exist on both sides of the border.

🇺🇸 New Black & Gold MAGA Teddy Bear ✅ 45th & 47th President of The USA

This, Alex, is not the "don't become American moment" you believe it to be. It's more like a "we have the same or similar issues" moment However, the solutions are not similar #Canada needs to deport all the cartel folks who've arrived the past 15 years & roll up all of their secret drug labs running out in the rural areas We need to track any precursor chemicals upon entry into Canada until they're used for industrial purposes We need to inspect all freight entering and/or leave 🇨🇦 We must stop volunteering to take in refugees when we have no plan for their integration or resettlement to their home country

I get where you're coming from and I agree—let's clean our room. But the U.S. has a dirty room too—it also has cartel folks living within its borders, inspection issues at ports, drug labs of their own, and 20,000 more pounds of extra fentanyl crossing over its border than ours.

Just go to Hamilton, it’s closer.

How is this different from any Northern Canadian City?

It's not.

This is not just an Alaska problem. Have you been to NWT or Yukon or any city in Canada? We have homeless issues, people living in tents even in winter in the North. There are shelters but sometimes people choose not to go to them for whatever reason usually addiction. The North is not immune to these issues like any other urban centre & rural small towns in Canada. Our Gov't is the issue. People in Alaska do get Oil & Gas revenue share after 1 year of residency and housing is cheaper than in Canada believe it or not. 51st state is not a solution but rather another tool in the toolbox. IMO.

Maybe take a walk around downtown Calgary at night If you dare

People are paying 5 million for a golden green card. Canadians could get it for free. We should be asking USA to make the offer. The only losers would be the government sector.

TDS Alex I never thought I’d see such an intelligent guy run after koolaid.
