Anyway go watch Prehistoric Planet.

I mean here it works because the hyper realistic cgi animals ACT LIKE ANIMALS. It doesn’t work with The Lion King's cast because they’re meant to be human proxies, hence the realistic animal movements and occasionally humanlike facial expressions just look uncannily creepy.

The use of IRL backdrops in Prehistoric Planet instead of Lion King 2019's CGI ones also helped, you could tell Jon Favareau learned the mistakes from that one to improve it. Too bad Midfasa didn't seem to get the memo.

I mean Prehistoric Planet might not even exist without the Lion King remake, or it might exist in a state of cheaper, less polished animation

I'm aware of that lol, it is a good test run for that and it's noticeable that Jon Favareau learned from the mistakes from The Lion King 2019 (especially with using IRL backdrops instead of fully CGI-ones). Too bad Mufasa doesn't seem to have done the same though.

Same, it'd be a much more worthwhile and better use of photorealistic CGI than Midfasa.
