Woman impacted by MAGA abortion bans: You do not know the healthcare you need until you need it. You can be against abortion for yourself. You can never choose it. But you cannot restrict access to a category of medical care without consequences that reach every pregnant person in this country. AOC: Speaker Johnson kept Republicans home for over a month so that they would not negotiate on health care. Trump and Vance, they did the same thing. They stuck their heads in the sand for the entirety of a 30 day government shutdown where we were urging them to come to a solution on extensions of premium subsidies. I just don't understand why we don't prevent a lot of people from suffering by doing a clean extension of these subsidies.

In the Seanad today, I welcomed the failure of the Social Democrats to remove the three-day waiting period for abortion. Thousands of women have taken advantage of this waiting period to rethink and as a result went ahead with their pregnancy. Surely this is a cause for celebration, not the opposite. It seems to be a strategy on the extreme Left of politics to keep pushing for wider access to abortion, if only to prevent any discussion of the tragedy taking place in our midst– a major increase in the number of abortions taking place each year, no government strategy to reduce abortion or promote positive alternatives, and cruel practices in late-term abortion situations. People with different views on whether or when abortion should be legal should surely acknowledge that each abortion is a tragedy and we should work to reduce the numbers taking place.

I’m personally not big on men who actively “hook up” with women, shaming and traumatizing women who have had abortions tho. I think that the programming and pressure they are under from a very young age is extreme. Women are programmed to do what the dominant males tell them to, and when the men around them are weak and immoral the dominant males become media figures telling them to have abortions. The act is so traumatizing to them that many times they enter a permanent state of “leftism” because they have to externalize the shame. This is embodied in “the patriarchy.” It’s actually quite sad. That being said, it’s been long enough that we can all see the trick. It’s real real sick. This guy does a good job because this is exactly the context to do it in. Not some woman who made a mistake. So, I did what any rational person would do: I called an abortion facility right in front of her to get the facts straight from the source. You can't just take a pill at 18 weeks. Even their own workers will tell you on the phone that it’s a brutal, multi-day surgical procedure. My opinion on abortion. No one at all should be able to tell a woman that she can’t have an abortion before the 20 week mark. Here is why… - Before 20 weeks, a fetus does not have the capabilities for complex neural activity that would be required to have a subjective subconscious. Without a subjective subconscious the fetus doesn’t even know it’s alive, and doesn’t even know it exists. It can’t feel pain, have dreams or have thoughts. - Before 22 weeks, a fetus simply is not considered viable. It almost never can survive outside of the womb even with intense medical intervention. Most scientists believe that sometime around 24-28 weeks is when a subjective subconscious is formed. At this point, I think it’s absolutely wrong to have an abortion, unless the mother’s life is in danger or the likelihood of the child surviving birth is extremely small. Fact is that less than 1% of all abortions in the US occur after 21 weeks. This equates to a little over 4,000 abortions per year. Of these 4,000 (1%), over 99% of them are in instances where a mother's life is in danger or the child has severe fetal anomalies incompatible with life outside of the womb. That means that less than 0.01% (less than 40) abortions per year take place after 21 weeks in which the mother's life isn't at risk or the baby isn't going to die upon birth. Historically, the Roe v. Wade decision (1973) allowed for the right to an abortion but permitted states to impose restrictions after viability (around 24 weeks). So that's why women want to be left alone. Women make the right decision for themselves. States can outlaw abortion after 24 weeks and very few people have problems with this. When the conversation of reparations comes up, people always focus on what it is going to cost. We need to focus on what we are going to gain. This nation can absolutely afford to do reparations. It can not afford NOT to do reparations. I make some of these points during a live TV interview on a news station in Charleston. It was probably not the most politically astute thing to do to speak about reparations during what just a four minute interview where I could not discuss all the nuances of the matter. It will probably not win me much support. However, it was the right thing to do.

The loss of Roe was not only the loss of federally protected reproductive rights, but also medical privacy. This impacts everyone, even those who cheered for the loss of medical privacy rights. This is also why we are now seeing AGs threatening to prosecute women who travel to other states to access abortion and why the Biden administration had to create a new HIPAA rule to prevent gop states from accessing a woman's medical records who travel to another state for an abortion. Reproductive rights should be federally protected. Medical privacy should be federally protected. People are not the property of the state they live in.

In December 2025 there was a vote put to Irish TD's to extend abortion from 24 weeks to birth, this was not voted in, but only by 2 votes, 73 against, 71 in favour. Now the left leaning parties want to abolish the three day wait for women to consider what options are available to them if they have an unplanned pregnancy. It is extremely important that we contact our TD's and let them know that we do not want this three day wait abolished, its important, otherwise why do they want to get rid of it?
