✨ Made a new mini feature on Photo AI: [ Grab from 3d model ] So the problem is we're at that stage in time (typical for AI) where image-to-3d models are not good enough but are fun to play with, but we know they'll be good enough in 1-2 years With [ Make 3d model ] you already can turn any Photo AI pic into a 3d model but it still looks hyper clunky and deformed, but it works! One cool idea I had to make that more useful and made now: Let people make a 3d model then change the view of the it with the 3d viewer, then press [ o ] and it grabs a frame of the 3d That image you can then [ Remix ] (img2img), and it becomes a real photo again and that in turn you can then turn into a video again with [ Make video ] So that essentially gives you a fully freeform camera position control to take photos with One thing I need to fix is the background/skybox, I kinda need to take the original photo and remove the person and just get the background for the 3d model viewer, in this case it should be white, but it's a start!

✨ I can now generate 3d assets for my drone sim at directly from Cursor (sponsor of #vibejam) I need buildings that you'd see in a war torn city, like warehouses in ruins, broken down abandoned houses, bombed out bridges etc. Nano Banana Pro or 2 can generate them really well and then you can put them in an image-to-3d model and you get a GLB or FBX That one you can then import into your Three.js game, the models might be big though, in my case like 16MB, so I ask it to compress it and make it more low poly so it loads fast ThreeJS then loads the individual GLBs on page load and puts them in my drone sim somewhere randomly, I think I should remove some of the grass and match the sandy color of the ruins though to make it fit in more

Making smart glasses frames was way harder than I thought. Here's what I learned: Materials matter. You can't use normal plastic, because it has to be light and safe to touch your face So we chose TR90 plastic that's made for eyewear Fake gray-market TR90 plastic is common in China. You gotta go to the source and make sure your TR90 is legit Glue is so important. If you put too much glue it will give issues, and add weight. Too little glue, won't stick. That's why it's better for a robot to do it (VIDEO) If the glue doesn't match the material perfectly, then it won't stick. So we tried like 4 glues to get the best one for our smart glasses You design the frame in 3D and then make a tool. A tool is just a metal mold that is shaped like the glasses. You put a bunch of melted plastic (TR90) in the tool, let it cool, and out pops the glasses frame. Do that 10,000 times Tooling leaves seams in the frame, so we figured out where to put the seam so it doesn't cut into your ear when you wear it Obviously this all must be super lightweight because the electronics are heavy The camera needs a certain perspective, so the glasses frame angles the camera down to capture hands in videos Throughout the design process, you can't sacrifice style And now our Mentra Live frames are born

if you are making an isometric 3D game, one of the easiest and highest impact improvement to lighting you can make is to take your lighting rig, and shove it inside the camera hierarchy. It gives a consistent lighting from all angles! no idea why it took me so long to do this

No matter how many years it has been, I still love to make Mario Moonwalk every time I reach Super Mario Bros. World 4-2. As a kid, it was part of the neighborhood collective play pattern. Like blowing in cartridges and the Contra Code, it was one of those things that was simply “known.” Michael Jackson was at the height of his popularity, and most kids knew of the Moonwalk, which became legendary after he first performed it during Billie Jean at Motown 25. A neighborhood boy showed this to me one day in the late 80s playing it on Nintendo and we all thought it was so cool. Years later it’s still habit! Though familiar to many, I realize this might be new to some. To do it, enter World 4-2 small, make the cursed jump, then leave enough space at the left of the screen so that you can walk back under there after getting the hidden mushroom. Face left, then press right when the Mushroom reaches you to Moonwalk! Whether new to you or simply a fun reminder of a gaming staple of youth, I hope it gives you a smile today ❤️

I'm seeing a lot of people saying it is just a bad upscaling instead of Gen AI, but it is indeed Gen AI animation. There are things going on in it that just don't make any sense for puppet animation. Here are some parts that make it clear, I slowed down the video so it's easier to notice the chunky parts. I checked the past ADs and it's possible to notice details (from an animator's POV) that are common and make sense for human work, so it was definitely a choice to use AI on this new AD
