AH-64 Apache Engages Insurgents Transporting Weapons – Iraq An AH-64D Apache observes insurgents behaving suspiciously as they place an RPG and other weapons in an open field before loading them onto a tractor. The activity is monitored through the helicopter’s targeting system from a distance. Once the weapons are being moved, the Apache engages with its 30mm chain gun, firing on the group and the equipment to neutralize the threat. The engagement shows the advantage of aerial surveillance and precision fire in open terrain.
