AH-64 Apache Gunships Engage Insurgents Threatening Convoy – Iraq (2008) TADS/FLIR footage shows two AH-64D Apache gunships providing close air support to a convoy under fire. Insurgents are identified on elevated terrain, attempting to ambush from ridgelines and rocky cover. One Apache engages the main group while the wingman suppresses additional fighters, maintaining constant overwatch in a coordinated “racetrack” pattern. The 30mm chain gun delivers precise fire, neutralizing targets at distance. A clear example of coordinated CAS dominating the battlefield and protecting ground forces.
