Nate Burleson on former #Buckeyes and #Browns star Terrelle Pryor: "I told him earlier, 'You are one of the best all-around athletes to ever play in the NFL.' I know in a lot of people's eyes his career didn't have the same type of depth that maybe he wanted or his fans wanted. But from the perspective of his peers, we respected the hell out of him." In 3 seasons at Ohio State, Pryor had 6,177 yards and 57 TDs with another 2,188 rushing yards and 19 TDs on the ground. He also caught 2 TD passes. I remember watching him in person at Ohio Stadium. He was so far and away better than anyone else on that field. Not many quarterbacks who transition to wide receiver 3 years into their NFL career have much success doing so. But when he came to Cleveland, Terrelle Pryor kicked ass. In 2016, Pryor caught 77 passes on 140 targets for 1,007 yards and 4 TDs. He also rushed for a TD. He had 818 air yards, seventh-most in the NFL that year. Other than Josh Gordon in 2013, Pryor's 1,007 yards were the most by a Browns wideout since Braylon Edwards in 2007. Pryor's accomplishments go back to his high school days when he became the first player in Pennsylvania history to pass for 4,000 yards and rush for 4,000 yards. He led his team to a state-record 860 points scored in 2007. As a former NFL Scout, I find it VERY interesting that Shedeur Sanders “dirted” his final play of his Pro Day in the 2-Minute Drill instead of making the high pressure throw to the end-zone and risking missing it as his lasting impression. This is also why he took some of his sacks (and yardage losses for his team) instead of throwing the ball away at Colorado the past two seasons. I’ve never seen a quarterback more afraid of making a mistake. The fear of making a mistake is engrained in him (likely from an early age). It’s spray painted all over his game film and poetically, it’s exactly how his Pro Day ended with him bowing out instead of stepping into the moment. The fact he “shied away” from taking the shot in front of the league at the end is VERY telling to me. It’s the take away. Three other impressions of mine from his Pro Day: 1. Average overall looking “arm strength.” There was a “wobble” on a number of his throws and he put too much air under his deep passes. He could not drive the ball much at his indoor Pro Day at 5,430 feet altitude (Boulder Colorado). He “flashed” having “decent” arm strength on a few of his underneath throws but he clearly lacks “arm confidence” and the confidence in himself to drive the ball. 2. Average location placement overall. 3. Pats the ball pre-delivery which telegraphs to defensive backs when and where he’s throwing. There was nothing and I mean nothing special, elite or dominant looking at his Pro Day that was set up in absolute ideal conditions for him. He mostly made short throws and put too much air under his deep throws. I have an undraftable free agent grade on him. He’s a practice squad level talent with a Hall of Fame last name. My dream is to get a second chance in the NFL and on my resume, I am advising teams not to select him in rounds 1-7 in the 2025 NFL Draft. Video credit: NFL

I wanna say something about Philip Rivers. He hasn’t played football in over 5 years, he steps up in a role we have never seen. Coming into this job and immediately playing against the best defense in the NFL. The next week having to play against the other hottest defense and offense in the NFL, in the 49ers. He managed to be the best player on the field tonight for the Colts, as a 44 year old that just took the job. This story will always be remembered by me as a die-hard NFL fan, he played his heart out.

Every snap that Austin Booker was in on in the first half... Every snap but 4 of them. He was out on the first two of the third defensive series and the last two of the last (5th) defensive series. - Long Arm is noticeable - Nice Bend and constant effort - Likes to incidentally hit the QB 🤣 - The comparisons to Maxx Crosby should be taken seriously. He looks just like a young and unrefined Crosby - That "Twitchy explosiveness is real. - He's going to get more mass and muscular too and his best years are ahead of him when he does, but this experience is HUGE. - Little gassed before they took him out of the last drive, but his motor stays constant. - Second Half was even better than the first half 😲 - Led the team with 5 Pressures and 13.5% win rate while playing 84% of snaps Solid, SOLID, outing for Austin Booker I'm buying every bit of his stock you can buy. It’s early but the first story of week is already developing. Last week Brandon Berry was 12th alternate. A few days ago he sent me a message asking if other alternates were on site. At that time he was 5th alternate. There were a few, but since he lives in South Florida decide to come, since it’s only an hour flight. He moved all the way to first by this morning. And now he has heard that a player might be sick and he might have a tee time. Making the story that more compelling is how he is in the alternate position. Last year at 2nd to last finals event Berry missed the cut by one. On Friday he accidentally played the wrong ball, resulting in a two stroke penalty. Because of that he finished 76th in points, missing out on retaining his full card by one stroke over the entire season. Had he made the cut he was almost assured of keeping it. Devastating mistake, but now possibly a chance to change that this week. He will get a good amount of starts but a made cut here goes a long way. Also Brandon and his family are great people, it’s easy to cheer for him.

RICKYYYYYY has played in 19 games and missed 14 games in his career including 6 due to a gun shot wound. So now the 49ers have brought in THE MOST UNDER-APPRECIATED WR IN NFL HISTORY in Mike Evans, but they need Ricky to be Mike’s Robin like Chris Godwin Jr was. Mike Evans and Chris Godwin Jr. combined for 20 touchdowns in 2020 when they won the Super Bowl. They both had 1,000 yards receiving in the same season 4 times and combined for 15 or more touchdowns 6 times in 9 years. That is the production the 49ers need from this WR group to keep up with the Seahawks and the Rams. Mike Evans even at 32 going on 33 years old, will still draw coverage. River Ryan...Welcome Back! How about 98 on the 4 seam and 92 on the slider for the K on the first hitter on re-entry. Ryan's fastball SAT 97 & touched 98....Wow! Slider was good, and he threw it the most, and it averaged 90! Ryan had Tommy John late in the season in 2024, spent all last season rehabbing, and now here he is. He AND his brother. The Tommy John will be nothing other than a blip on his radar. He fractured his back in High School, but continued to play as a 2-way at UNC Pembroke, but was mainly a shortstop. He got drafted by the Padres, still as a 2-way, then got traded to the Dodgers for Matt Beaty, and was moved to a pitcher only once he got here. So, he's a great athlete who thinks like a "baseball player" and not just a pitcher. In fact, ask around to those in the system as to who is the best athlete in the system, at any position, and see how high up the charts he is. #dodgers #dodgersprospects

Slider was good, and he threw it the most, and it averaged 90! Ryan had Tommy John late in the season in 2024, spent all last season rehabbing, and now here he is. He AND his brother. The Tommy John will be nothing other than a blip on his radar. He fractured his back in High School, but continued to play as a 2-way at UNC Pembroke, but was mainly a shortstop. He got drafted by the Padres, still as a 2-way, then got traded to the Dodgers for Matt Beaty, and was moved to a pitcher only once he got here. So, he's a great athlete who thinks like a "baseball player" and not just a pitcher. In fact, ask around to those in the system as to who is the best athlete in the system, at any position, and see how high up the charts he is. #dodgers #dodgersprospects
