Apparently a Tesla Cybertruck has been seen getting tested in London. The width comes across as ridiculous, particularly considering that a Cybertruck with mirrors folded at 6'8" is too wide for a standard UK width restriction.

Irvine now has the first (and hopefully last) police Cybertruck in the U.S. I saw a idea, I think on TikTok, of a guy ripping parts off a Cybertruck with his bare hands and destroying the doors just by slamming them. That car has no business being part of a police fleet. FUN FACT: Cybertrucks are banned in the UK because they don’t meet safety standards.

Sitting here watching my Cybertruck charge with the mountains of Utah in the background, it hit me again… I really believe this is the most beautiful Tesla ever made. Every angle is different. It looks futuristic without trying too hard, and it fits just as well in the middle of a city as it does surrounded by nature like this. What makes this truck special is so much more than just the stainless steel or design. For me it’s how capable and practical it is. Long road trips, hauling gear, camping, tough weather, and FSD… it feels like THE one vehicle built to do almost everything. I’ve owned and driven many Teslas over the years, and every one has been amazing in their own unique way, but the Cybertruck is the first one that genuinely makes me stop and look back every time I park it. Driving across the U.S. in this beast has only reinforced that feeling. And to me, the Cybertruck is the best vehicle Tesla has ever built.

Cybertruck was loaded with fireworks. This is at half speed. Starting about 7 seconds in, close to the camera, you see many fireworks exploding. Considering the overall situation, this looks intentional. And clearly not a battery fire.

Seems like a good opportunity to share a trick I used on the React Aria website to make headings scale to fit the viewport on mobile, even with SSR. I used fontkit, a library I wrote 10 years ago to parse fonts and layout glyphs, to measure the width of the heading at build time in the "em" unit. width = font.layout('DateRangePicker').advanceWidth / font.unitsPerEm This is a size independent measurement using the font's internal metrics. When multiplied by any font size, you get the pixel width of the text. To calculate the font size, set this as a CSS variable and divide the target width (100vw minus padding). Clamp to make sure it doesn't get too big or small. font-size: clamp(35px, (100vw - 32px) / var(--text-width), 55px) And tada! You have perfectly scaling text no matter the viewport size. 🎉
