I’m convinced that community is the only solution and mutual support is essential to that. But you can’t build community behind a paywall. It will stop people engaging immediately.

We completely understand the reservation. However, if people don’t have the money, or don’t want to pay for a membership, they can always get involved via volunteering. The truth is, with money comes influence. Think of the aftermath of George Floyd in the states; the protests and the legal change that followed came via an enormous amount of money pouring into the movement. Someone needs a lawyer? We’re there to help. Need to support a victim? We’re there to help. We’re building a real movement to enact change, and we cannot do this without money. Communities can’t organise without a centralised point of authority; and unfortunately money brings power to influence.

Thanks for the reply. The communities that are actually successful are highly local, highly organized and as you described actually do support each other financially. However they don’t do it through a national subscription model. Great work, I’d love to share my own plans
