At 4am this morning the EU voted to provide a €90 billion aid package to Ukraine. This is a significant step forward to ensure Ukraine is NOT forced to capitulate to an indicted war criminal and a US president who is complicit in attempts to see an ally nation handed to Russia. While I believe that they SHOULD have used Russian frozen assets to fund this loan, that option while left on the table for future use was not used. There is now an opportunity for Europe to really step up and help bring this war to an end to secure a just and lasting peace without Ukraine being extorted by Trump for its energy and rare earth resources. I believe this is the first step in the separation of Europe from the US in terms of the military partnership. The intention now is to invest in European arms manufacturing as the plug is being pulled of the procurement of US military hardware.
