The main advantage is its not a push button selector and instead a traditional 3 position lever, that was what made it a absolute nightmare to design, there is a really high demand for the flip lever. It has some other small improvements with the lever that avoid breaking in metal due to upper clearance but for the most part if you dont care about the push button the SS is still a great and affordable option.

@ASDesignsFRTs Technically rare breeds 247 patent claim against the SS is already weak as they added it 8 months after the super safety released but the arc does design specifically around there 247 claim as the cam is a single position.

I have actually done a ton of durability testing on arc printed and it works and last about as long as the super safety the main issue with printed arcs is they are significantly more complicated then the super safety so you gotta have a printer that’s printing within 0.002” tolerances or they will not function correctly and not many people are able to print that accurately even with bambu printers even more so complex faces like this. That said if it’s printed correctly the durability is surprisingly good and the cam reset surface becomes the weak point.

@LizzieHasAGat @ASDesignsFRTs Yes a ton of stuff is like the FCG pin placement. Not everything on the ARC is held to 0.002" most stuff is 0.005" but when 3d printing the ramps aren't ramps due to the layer lines not being gradual like metal thus the need for really tight tolerances in these few areas.

Is this the same design exactly as the Atrius Selector? It looks exactly like mine. I like it because it uses a non modified mil spec trigger and has otherwise 100% Super Safety performance with traditional 3 positions. As long as folks credit Tim for the spark, these should be in every rifle sold.

This device functions very differently then the Atrius and has been in dev before the atrius was released. The atrius is a spring loaded cam with a lever permanently attached to the cam, the atrius changes positions by moving the cam and lever combo between modes using the spring as a bias for one of the modes. The arc fire is completely different, the arc has a single position cam meaning the cam never moves between modes, the arc lever is a separate part that is pushed into the cam to engage it in the active reset position but its designed in such a way that if the selector isn't in the active reset position the arc lever will slip out of the active reset mode allowing for normal uninterrupted semi. the arc has no spring like the atrius aswell. There is no way to make a SS with a 3 pos selector lever not look like the atrius but they don't function the same way internally tho of course externally i could see the confusion.

@jamesmcpherson @ASDesignsFRTs Because they rushed to the market as fast as possible while we spent time ensuring compatibility with a wide range of platforms. For example the atrius doesn’t work with mp5s or the MCX / MPX while the arc does.

The only part that's really thin is the front shield area but its not really under any stress its mostly just for keeping larger debris out of the cam teeth. Everything else is pretty overkill for the load its under. just to really try and break it i have done some testing in pla and pla pro and it held up great and the only area that eventually failed was the cam reset surface witch was expected.

@ASDesignsFRTs If I am understanding this correctly, when in SEMI, the trigger isn't forced to reset or moved like it is with a SS or RB/DDT FRT, thus allowing for traditional trigger reset?

@ASDesignsFRTs In the semi mode the trigger is not reset at all just like the super safety so you cant feel any sort of rest in the normal semi mode it feels identical with or without the arc installed basically. With the RB FRT the trigger is reset even in the semi position.
