It really goes to show how powerful of a movement the "Spirit" of the idea of Vatican 2 that even Saint Fulton Sheen is saying things like: "the change of the spirit of the times" & "the world came into the church," and he's inferring this is a good change.

Long before Vatican II, America's bishops bravely preached the Gospel in the face of widespread anti-Catholicism. +Hughes, +Gibbons, +McNicholas, and more acknowledged our duty to evangelize the nonbelievers. After the "Sexual Revolution" of the 1960's, however, most American bishops used "the Spirit of Vatican II" as an excuse for putting the tough teaching on sexual morality down the Memory Hole. Marriage between a man and a woman for life, the openness to life, the objective evils of homosexuality, contraception, and abortion - they were all left on the cutting-room floor. Not for Bishop Sheen! He bravely preached the hard truths of the Gospel - all of them - throughout his life. May he inspire us today to do the same.

The Church, as the New Testament tells us, is not primarily an organization of like-minded individuals. Instead, it’s more like an organism—a living thing made up of cells, molecules, and organs. I think it’s safe to say that 2025 was a very interesting year. And I think I see it very differently than most. You probably saw a lot of headlines about AI and tech stocks. While that was a big story, I don’t think it was the most important thing. The big story in the investment world was the depreciation of the value of fiat money and how that impacted the price of gold. That’s how 2025 looked through my eyes, at least. I’m curious to hear if you see things the same way.
