It all started at St. Denis, where fires are burning today.

Amen. Anything that brings you closer to God is theology!

It certainly can be and is here —ornate interior, Baroque style, a massive dome covered in elaborate frescoes, clouds, and religious scenes— undoubtedly designed to draw the eye upward— physically manifesting theological notions of the divine order, transcendence, and awe. I’ve heard it said that poetry is like frozen music— well, for me such holy buildings are analogous— they are embodiments of spiritual truths where form and light convey the sacredness of religious doctrine more directly than any words could ever do alone. . .

If architecture is theology in form, what theology will be expressed when we start making structures that robotically build, repair, and maintain themselves, all acquiring and keeping the exact form that the architect defines? It's coming. :-)

This is heavy.
