'Are those comments acceptable?' Defence Secretary Grant Shapps was questioned on #BBCBreakfast over comments made by Conservative MP Lee Anderson about Mayor of London Sadiq Khan which Labour have described as Islamophobic

Yes they're acceptable and yes they're a true statement. Two tier policing, from scared officers not enforcing the laws they happily bring the hammer down for other groups. No it isn't islamophobia to point out the truth. Parliament literally surrendered to the mob, now someone names the mob, you all cry racism. Pathetic. Islam is not a race. It's a religion. No religion is beyond reproach. Lose this defacto blasphemy speech when anyone criticizes islam.

If he hasn't heard about it then he's just a terrible, ill-informed, worthless minister [I know, I know ... ] or he's lying. I know which one I think is correct.

When did the entirety of Britain become so opposed to intellectual discourse? It seems that merely uttering two words, 'racist' or 'Islamophobic,' can magically end any discussion. Why not engage in a sound argument instead? I thought the United Kingdom was renowned for institutions like the Oxford Union and its tradition of high-minded debate. Considering the country's role in pioneering free speech, it's quite ironic to witness such a dim view of it.

I’m mixed race and @LeeAndersonMP_ is not wrong. Look at the state of London, ‘river to the sea’ splattered over our Houses of Parliament ! Marches in the streets, London doesn’t feel safe anymore. Khan is not helping.
